Been in 2 really bad wrecks in GM vehicles. The new Pontiac station wagon and 3/4 ton GMC van were totaled but I came out OK due to the superior workmanship. My last auto was Buick Century which was running well at 110,000 when given away. That is why I use a GM Van for business. The only thing I don't care for is the low gas mileage. It costs around 50 bucks to fill up.

I've owned lots of brand cars, fords, hondas, isuzus, chryslers, but I tell ya what, when I got a Chevy(GM car) I have only had maintenence cost on it, I've put on over 100k on this car and had it for 6 years. Nothing major ever went wrong, and I even got hit by a deer in my driver's side door going 80mph (deer was perpendicular at about 25+ mph across hwy) and I left that accident with a little neck soreness. GM are truly a well built car. I would recomend to NEVER buy anything else, and certainly not a Fix Or Repair Daily car (FORD)

If you think by buying an american car, your keeping Americans employed, theres a twist. Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, and others make most of their cars in the USA as well. So you wouldn't be doing any harm to American's jobs really. Also, I suspect that if Gm was to go out of buisness, all of the employees would go over to one of the so called "Japanese" car makers. I however don't dislike GM, its just that Toyota and all the others are out doing GM.
One of my favorite Cars are made by GM (Chevy Trail Blazer) so, again, I don't dislike GM.

Grammatically, your question isn't even a question, but here goes ...

First you have to ask why should someone care whether they are buying American or not. Is it supposed to be patriotic or something? Or is it supposed to be a selfish motive to keep that money closer to home?

But what does buy American even mean? Is a car from a company whose origins were in the USA (e.g. Ford, GM, Chrysler) regardless of where it was manufactured or where the parts that went into it were manufactured? Is a car from a company that did not originate in the USA (e.g. Honda, Toyota) a "foreign" car even though it was manufactured in the USA?

Personally I buy the automobile that meets my needs (size, cargo room, features) and offers the best value regardless of what brand it is or what countr(ies) it is associated with.

By buying an American car you are keeping your fellow Americans employed. This questions was in the USA only section, so I am assuming you are American. GM has high quality cars & trucks in all price ranges.

The worst new cars today are miles ahead of the best cars from 15 years ago. I have a '93 Buick with 196,000 miles and it runs great and a '98 Rodeo with 75,000 miles (GM owns a portion of Isuzu and the engine is made by Holden, GM Australia)

what set you off? Did you buy used lemon? Generally Gm vehicles are easier to maintain through parts, care, availability, and good general maintainance. So would it be that you must not maintain your vehicles right? Or the sales man did you wrong and isnt telling the whole truth. Im rambling but I find GM a dependable brand to own and maintain.

I've always had a lot of GM cars and trucks, but the quality has slid in the recent years. The next new one will be another make.
