Willie Mosconi ran 526 balls in 1954 during an exhibition match in Springfield Ohio. It has been reported that he could of set the record even higher but he had to leave the match due to other commitments. So he actually never miseed 527.The record still stands today. It is my opinion that 15 time world champion Willie Mosconi was the greatest ever pocket pool player.
Willie Hoppe was probably the greatest 3 cushion player that ever lived. He was a world champion at the age of eighteen in 18.1 balkline and 18.2 balkline as well as cushion carom. And when 3 cushion billiards took over he totally dominated that game also. Even with a strange sidearm stroke. Most of his records still stand today.

interestingly mosconi was also in the match which set the worst ever score - he beat ralph greenleaf who ended up with a negative score of -13 .

the greatest 3 cushion billiard player of all time was probably willie hoppe altho my coach and friend - Robbie Foldvari - won the billiards world championship 3 times
