Don't worry about calories if you're eating the right things.
You need 1 gram of protien per pound.

Eat high density foods like avocado, nuts and seeds, butter, cream, sour cream, obviously meat, broccoli or cauliflower, spinach, whey protien, and more.

These are heavy and stay in your body longer.
Don't forget vegetables no matter what anyoen says.
Junk is junk, stay away from it.
Almonds have high protien. eat a handful daily, and eat much protien.
If you overdo it, it turns to fat.
Workout 3X a week, MWF, mainly weight lifting. Slow and heavy is the key.

Meal replacement shakes only good if they are low carb , low sugar, high protien like Whey Healthier and Jay Robb's Whey Protien.

Good Luck.

6 egg whites for a.m.
chicken or tuna for lunch -6oz

No Fat cottage before bed. 4oz
You need to take a weighting training class,
You have to have a program on paper, track it, work it,
Or you will just kick you butt for no good reason.

a basic rule told to me by a GNC associate told me to just get a start off is one gram of proten per pound of you, so im 5'8" 190 pounds, so thats 190 grams, protein is need to help repair your muscles, as when your working out your actually "ripping" your muscles, and when you go home, and rest your body repairs the muscle and makes it stonger, i suggest a day in between the days you lift, for rest reasons, when your overworking your body really doesnt grow, well alternate, like do towle benches or inclines, somthing like that, and i say 1.5 miles and keep that, going faster and faster, its kind of standard, for our heights and weights

If you gain muscle mass, you will gain weight. Weight itself isn't bad, its the weight due to "fat" that is bad.
