hey! i am also 14 and i am 5'6 as well. I have used the fact that i am extremely tall to do some modeling, so i dont want to stop myself from growing. But i do know of a 14 year old who is 6 feet tall. so i'm not too worried. i know this is beside the point, but my family has gotten up to 5'7 in high school and stopped growing once they got to that height. so maybe you're almost done growing! But, i cant really help you here, because i really dont want to stop growing. Is your family tall? maybe you inherited it from them. well, sorry and good luck! :)

This is not a dumb question, I've often wonder about it myself and then i saw people that were worst off than me and had bigger problems than me and i began to check my self after my granny in which i name her g-ma for short told me that stopping
myself from growing would cause me to miss out on a lot of things that had been predestine in my life and that every life has a meaning rather big or small. Can you imagine the sun refusing to shine anymore, that would be terrible. besides I'm about 5'9 and one year older than you and i think I'm OK, i feel good about myself and you can do the same and be happy knowing that someone else has had the same thought, and have been there and done that and still growing.

dont worry usually you stop growing about a year after you start your period.
Or if your feet havent grown in a year and a half you probably wont grow anymore.
You cant stop yourself from getting taller. But you will probably be glad of the height when you get older.TRUST ME !
I think 5'7" is a good height even 5 9 or 10 or 11.
Some hot women are 6 ft.
Try not to worry okay....

I hate to break it to you, but your're going to grow to be as tall as your genetics dictates. Keep in mind that you're only 14. You will probably feel tall and akward now, but even if you grow a couple more inches in the next few years, that would only put you at 5'8"-5'10" and that's not "freakishly tall" for a woman at all. Don't worry about it.
But as far as your question goes: you can't really stop yourself from growing.

Let it go sweetie. You will only grow another inch or two.
5' 9" is a perfect height.
Here are some fine girls who are about that tall or taller:
Julia Roberts
Estella Warren
Uma Thurman (6')
Nicole Kidman
So many others.
Be proud of your body and take pride.
You're beautiful

Are you male or female. As far as I know, you can't stop growing. But don't panic. Everybody develops diffently and at different speed.
When I was you age, I was among the smallest. My friends were growing quicker than me but by the age of 18, I was taller.

Growth is not a voluntary process. The cells in your body will digest, metabolize, excrete/secrete, assimilate, and grow in size and/or number as part of the nature of life.
However, one can choose not to nourish one's body and have stunted growth and distorted health. No one really wants that, right?
Are you scared of growing too tall? I think you shouldn't. I for one adore TALL girls/women. And that's the honest truth.

Be happy with who you are. Apparently you have a tall mother or father.
I'm 5'2, and you think you have a problem. I have to use a stepladder to get up to my kitchen cabinets. I'm not a midget, I'm just short. Short people don't have a whole lot of fun. You overlooked in a crowd or shall I just go on and on.
