My husband's 92 yr old Great-Aunt had kneed replacement done a few yrs back. She didn't have a single problem. Is now walking without any assistance. Walks even faster than she did before.

YOU might want to go to a different specialist for an evaluation. A different opinion always works for me.

If it is warm to the touch or has any redness you could have an infection. However, many people still experience pain and swelling for some time after arthroplasty. Usually doctors will only treat the pain. Anti-embolitic stockings might help with the swelling and perhaps the swelling alone is the reason for your pain...you may have circulation problems in your legs that you are not aware of and this could also be the cause of your pain and swelling.Talk to your doctor, elevate your legs often (sit in a recliner, or take a nap in bed during the day), try the T.E.D. hose (Anti-embolitic stockings) they really do help.
