the problem is that I bought you a cheap dvd player because you broke the good one.

DVD's and the player have to be from the same region. For example if you are in North America that's Region 1 or sometime it just says R-1 if you purchased your player or DVDs someplace else it may not play all of them.

if you are recording them it may not player some recorded

its probally not a progressive scan dvd player,,not entirely sure what that means,but they wont play just any cd or dvd if its not a progressive scan player

make sure its compatiable to play DVDR's and VCD's and also make sure the DVD's and the DVD Player are coded for the same region
