Jack and Jill decided to go hike up a hill. Jack went up the hill at 10 miles an hour and down the hill at 20 miles an hour. Jill went up and down the hill at a steady 15 miles an hour. (I know these kids are fast, they been going up and down hills for a long time)
Which kid finished first?

Jill finished first. Here's why:

Let's say the hill is 60 miles from the bottom to the top. Jack would take 6 hours going up and 3 coming down, for a total of 9 hours. Jill would take 4 hours up and 4 hours down, for a total of 8 hours. Therefore, Jill finished first.

Jill wins provided the hill is not at least 15 miles high(30 miles round trip). Otherwise Jack does not have enough time to catch up. Now I wanna know would you really call this just a hill if it's 15 miles high?

Jill she's faster going up and a bit slower going down hill but the up hill makes up for her down hill so she is faster.
