In the nuclear power industry be prepared for a complete background check that includes not only school credentials but law enforcement records, credit history, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory testing, interviews with psychologists, drug testing, neighbor interviews, past employment records for at least 10 years. Other than that, nothing much.

I understand that things are getting that tight in many professional companies like pipelines, chemicals, computers, etc.

Well a GED and high school diploma probally wouldn't afford you an opportunity to be employed with a company that would research such a minimal level of education.

While some companies do require at least a GED or diploma they are on a smaller level and of fewer demands. Not likely to be researched due to costs.

Higher education, degrees, PhD, or a Doctrine should always be researched. With today's technologies these can be duplicated and/or forged.

Professional companies seek out those applicants with higher learning.

And no, high school records are not just tossed aside after 6 or any number of years. These GED's and diploma's contain scores and GPA's that are necessary for someone to continue their education.

It's becoming very commonplace for companies to check backgrounds. This would include GED/high school diploma. There are too many people trying to cover a bad background anymore.

If it is not disclosed to them that it is a GED and you tell them it is a diploma, they can and will terminate you if they un-cover the truth. Most companies would not trust someone who lies on an application, honesty is probably the best policy. If applying for highly technical positions.....just concentrate on what experience or training that qualifies you to do that type of work.

If the job pays more than minimum wage, you can count on them checking. BTW... this is the computer age, why would records disappear after six years? That is ridiculous.
