Just tell him you are not looking for a friendship or any kind of relationship. Forget about your boyfriend because obviously he doesn't care about you. Honesty is the best answer. Don't go out with the new guy on the rebound or else you might give him the wrong kind of impression and then you won't be able to get him out of your life.

I would just tell this guy in a casual conversation that you are not at all interested in dating anyone right now. You should even go ahead and tell this guy that you do still have feelings for your ex and you just need time to be single. If he doesn't get the point then you'll either have to come right out and tell him or completly ignore him.

As for still having feelings for your boyfriend, I learned the hard way that holding back can cause. So my only advise I can give is to be honest with yourself and honest with your ex, he may not answer in the way that you want, but at least you know than. It may be hard, it may hurt, but in the future, when you look back on this, you can be proud of yourself that you were honest, and tried to change a negative situation.

tell this guy that wont leave you alone that your not over your ex and you dont want to go out with him because you dont want to hurt his feelings. And look, if your ex dont want you back get over him and move on with your life. Life is too short to be weeping over men.
