First of all, you would have to get your green card first and that can take years. You would have to prove a lot of information, provide pictures etc. Then once you receive your temporary green card, you will have to go back after two years and prove that you're still married...then once you get your permanent residency you have to wait three years...then the naturalization process takes FOREVER. The BCIS or whatever it's called these days, is extremely unorganized. If you get divorced after the two year probation period, that's usually 'ok' but if it's before then, it's usually problematic. Good luck! I hope you're not getting married in order to become a naturalized citizen...it's just not worth the agony.

Marriage in the US
If the spouse is already in the US and is marrying a US Citizen, then an adjustment of status may be possible and the beneficiary may be allowed to remain until approval of the case.
If the sponsor is a Permanent Resident, then the wait
until a green card can be issued is measured in years and the spouse may decide not to stay in the US since work permission may not be possible.
Conditional Residence
When a person receives a green card based on a marriage that is less than 2 years old when the person becomes a permanent resident, then the resident status is Conditional for two years. At the end of the two years, the resident status expires unless a petition to remove the condition is approved by the BCIS.
The petition to remove the condition is signed by both the husband and the wife. It is possible for a divorced spouse to sign the petition alone and then have the condition removed if it is proved that the marriage was genuine and not a sham.

Just file the paperwork with the INS and then you set up an interview between your spouse and the government officials. Be prepared for them to try and trick you-it is their job to find people who are marrying for money or citizenship. Then they turn you over to the police for prosecution, it has happened to a close friend of mine. If you divorce within 24 months you lose citizenship, if you are not found living together at any time during the next two years you could be prosecuted for a marriage scam. Good luck...

To get US citinzenship you must be a Green Card holder first, if you've gotten your Green Card through marriage, you can apply for citizenship after 3 years.
For the Green Card through marriage you can apply for your Green Card the next day if you want to, but if you get divorce before two years, most likely USCIS (immigration) will deny your petition unless you have a valid reason for the divorce (like your husband beating you up or so). By the way, they will look close to you case if you apply right after you get married, but if the marriage is legit and you can prove it, then you don't have nothing to worry about.

You can apply immediately, it will take about a year and a half. If you divorce, you will have to leave the country, unless it is after being married for 2 years, but it still might not help, I dont know the exact stipulations.

Mylissa is right, NSA does monitor this site, along with the FBI, OCS, CIA, ATF, DEA, INS, and others. Your probably a Russian lady who is in a marriage broker system which of course is illegal. You can and will be prosecuted.

i think that you automatically get citizenship when you marry, and it used to be that you had to stay married for a year. if they think that you are doing it just for that purpose they might come down on you, but if they do just sneak across the border and become an illegal and dont even bother with trying the marriage thing.

The process takes 2 yrs. You are only eligible to be a temporary resident until your 2nd anniversary. If you get divorced it will be revoked. If you are getting married in the US, you need to apply for a fiance visa.
