...and I was thinking of purchasing a drinking bowl for them. It was really cool looking. I seen it on Petco website. It recycles the water and it makes it flow. (I forget what the name of the product is). I was just wondering if anybody knows how good that product is. It costs about 30 dollars.

Hi! I have 5 cats and have one of these fountains. I can honestly say that my guys LOVE IT!! It is completely worth the money, because it keeps the water fresher longer, and the cats drink more water as a result of the flowing. The great thing about that, is if your cats are male, the more water they drink the better, because they "block" more easily and more frequent than females. What I mean by that, is they can form crystals in their urinary tract which causes a blockage, and as a result, can't pee. This can be fatal. The more water they drink, the better ... so all in all, the fountain is a terrific deal.
And Wal-mart really is the cheapest place to purchase one. Pet stores usually charge much more for theirs.
As for cats drinking out of toilets etc., that's not good for them at all because of all the chemicals and chlorine that are in that water (not to mention the insane amount of harmful bacteria).
I always purchase water from a reverse-osmosis source, which ensures the most purest water. Not only do I and my family drink it, I give it to my cats as well. I love them dearly and want them to be around as long as possible.
You sound like a very caring owner ... that's so nice to see.
Anyway, go pick up one of the fountains. It's money very well spent.
Cheers.

The problem I see with this is that you will forget to the change the water. Not changing the water frequently opens up the possibility of germs/bacteria living in the water. No filter will get rid of this. I know cats drink out of the toilet, but then again it's fresh water. I have 2 cats also, and I have a container that holds about a gallon of water that I change daily. This is true for all animals. I hate going into pet stores and seeing old water (especially in reptile cages). If you ger the drinking bowl, just make sure you change it regularly.

I have seen it in person and online. I also am thinking about getting it but my cat drinks her water just fine from the bowl. The one I was looking at actually had a little filter. If you can afford it, it is better than water that just sits. Cats need clean water and I change her water everyday and sometimes more. They are so prone to kidney problems. I guess I would buy it if my cat did not seem to drink enough.

Cats love any water that is flowing. My cat is incredibly particular to only fresh flowing water...I really want to break her of the habit of drinking from the sink! I am just not willing to spend the money on one of those watering systems....but if you do get one tell me how it goes for ya! and just a side note, 30 bucks does not sound like a bad cost, i've seen some of those drinking fountains for much more!

We have something similar for our four cats... you fill it, plus it has a removable resevoir so you can add to it as they drink and the level drops. There is a small pump inside that keeps the water circulating which helps to keep oxygen in the water, keeping it a little fresher. The cats love it and tend to drink a little more water. The only thing is you need to clean it about once a week because the water will get somewhat dirty and the pump will start to clog with cat hair. Regardless, it's a great thing for them and there's enough water in it for them for 3 - 5 days.

I have a "fountain" like your talking about. My cats LOVE it! One of the nice things about it is there's a filter that catches fur and other elements that often get in to a water bowl. My cats love the running water -- they would rather drink from it or a trickling faucet.

You should check at Wal-Mart or another discount store -- I think my was less [at Wal-Mart].

You should also buy a couple of extra packages of filters to have on hand.

U have 2cats that need to drink water. They will drink it whether it is recycled by a thirty dollar sysytem or not. They need water, they don't care where it comes from! Change the water daily, they will be happy, don't waste 30 bucks!

Some cats would love something like that, but a friend of mine who has five cats bought one...they were all afraid of it! lol Just be prepared for this. Can you afford to waste $30 on something they won't use? On the other hand, they might absolutely love it. Last year I took a chance and spent a fortune on a heated bed for my cat - she's very particular about where she sleeps - but because I think she's worth it, I bought it. She rarely gets out of it in the winter, so my gamble paid off. Yours might, too. :)

Cats love moving water to drink from. The bowl (I've seen it, but resisted buying it because my cats like to drink from the toilet bowl - eww) looks like it'll keep the water aerated.

I'd say it'd be a good buy.

Cats like drinking water that flows, so it might be a good idea. Just as long as you don't rely on it aeriating the water and don't forget to change it every day...
