When I was at reception I got one phone call. Then at basic I got one phone call during phase 1. Then once phase 2 it, we got one phone call each week. Of course, basic has gone soft recently, so that may very well have changed. Of course, you can write all the letters time allows, so make sure to reply when he writes.

They get to make a couple of calls the first weekend tehre, usually on a sunday. Be patient, it is a busy, hectic, trying time for your loved one.
