I want to buy a book that helps me learn to write in japanese. I know there are three main writing scripts : Kanji, Hiragana Katakana. What books teach you these three? It doesn't have to be all in one book.

Hiragana and katakana can be learned fairly easily. This is all you really need to know at first. It's kanji that can take years to learn since it's based on symbols (Chinese characters) and not syllables.

I would recommend taking a class at a community college or consult a friend that speaks the language if you can... There are some things books don't always cover very well such as proper context in certain situations and the Japanese language has a lot of those.

Any book will do for katakana and hiragana. However there are just so many kanji. I would say buy a kanji dictionary and follow a japanese language class when learning Kanji because it can get complicated.
