Does it happen all the time? Or just the past few times? Is the poop solid and well-formed or is it like diharrea? If it is just once or twice it could be because the dog pooped a little too much or he ate a treat that he didn't fully digest and scraped that area and it'll go away after a day or two. If it persists any longer (or if there is a lot of blood) then go see a vet. There is a pill (flagyl) that the vet can give you that will make his poop better, but the vet will also make sure that it is not something serious like internal bleeding.

Well, there are a lot of possibilities. Has your puppy been vaccinated properly? Is he having diarrhea? Any vomiting? Is he eating normally?
Basically, you will need to make an appointment with your veterinarian. If his symptoms worsen, if he starts having watery diarrhea, starts vomiting, becomes lethargic, the blood increases, then he needs an emergency visit this weekend. But, if all else is normal, call your vet on monday morning.

If it only happen once is okay he could have eaten some harsh stuff...... but if it happens constantly take him to the vet ASAP to help the VET get a clean glass container and take a poop sample so they can take an immediate test and start diagnosing the problem...... Good Luck....smile

My first guess would be parasites.....i.e. round, tape worms....which can cause blood in stool. Or, could be something else going on in his intestines/stomach/gastro area. In any case, anytime blood presents in his feces, a trip to your vet is warranted and the sooner the better. A simple fecal float can usually determine if parasites are present in most cases. Take in a fecal sample, the test takes about 10 minutes and is relatively inexpensive. but plan on paying for office visit and meds necessary to eradicate parasites, if that's what it is.

When your puppy has blood in the fecal is means that your puppy is constiperate, give it something to eat like oatmeat cookies, banana or just take it to the vet.

If it is a tiny bit of blood, it is probably not serious. Watch it for a day or so. Take him to the vet if it gets worse.

There are so many things that could cause blood in the stool. It could be anal gland related, constipation, diarrhea, internal damage, allergy related, or it could simply have worms. You really need to take it to the vet to find out what is causing it.

Without knowing how old, this is tough. If he/she has not been wormed, that's the next step. Get thee to a vet.
