Yes, God is real, and no, we didn't come from monkeys, the earth isn't millions of years old, the earth didn't come about by a big boom. And yes it is called faith, but God will also prove himself. He has many times, it wasn't by chance that more people were supposed to die in 9/11, and didn't. So many people got caught in traffic that day it wasn't even funny. Some say "well look at who all died", yes, but look who all were saved. I'm no optimist but I know God is real, he created Adam from the dirt, you try creating a human by science! And if we evolved from "monkeys" then wouldn't you think there would be no monkeys today? Or either people would STILL be coming from monkeys?? Yes God is real and NO ONE can convince me otherwise, and I hope the same for you who asked this question.

How can one be sure that the Bible is so true to teach us of God, when the various books within it was compiled by a group of select members of the church,(Bishops, and high clergymen), who only put in books to tell people what THEY wanted people to see or believe(Such as, leaving out the book of Mary Magdolin). If belief in God should be so natural, then why is it necessary to hide some details? Also keep in mind that during the time period the church controlled people, by allowing them to pay for forgiveness of sins (Lutheranism was born out of this) and persecuting those who had different theories and beliefs(Galileo, "the Earth is not the center of the Universe!") Hence the church used the bible to control people (The Roman Catholic church, before Protestantism), rather than to give them faith!

All of this makes one wonder, not necessarily if God was real or not,(but does create skepticism and doubt) but also of the level of his power. At least one can understand why another may not believe in God, (not that you have to agree with them) but you can see where they are coming from.

It's not possible to prove the nonexistence of anything, so I don't expect to be able to convince you of that. But the possibility of a god or gods just seems so very unlikely to me that I can take the shortcut of saying "there is no god" and be comfortable with it.

Think of it this way: Nobody can prove that there ISN'T a fifty-carat diamond buried somewhere in my backyard; you could do surveys and geological tests but the results aren't always 100 percent accurate, so the slim chance exists. But, given what I already know to be true (there are no diamond mines in the area, several of my neighbors have dug up their yards for various reasons and none of them found diamonds, etc.), I'm prepared to make that final leap of logic and say "there are no diamonds buried in my backyard." It may not be completely provable, but that doesn't mean it's not believable.

You're right, I don't think I can convince you that God isn't real. But why in the world would I want to do that?

Does this world need another Godless man? I think we have a few too many of those already.

By the way, I don't know for sure God isn't real, but I also don't know for sure that space aliens aren't real. I have to live my life with the information I CAN inspect for myself.

Well, I'm a Christian and I believe in God. All I'm saying is that there's no point of sitting here and arguing about it, no one can prove their point with hard evidence either way. It'll drive you crazy if you keep arguing about this, because everyone uses the same logic.

!. How do you know there is a God?
2. How do you know there isn't?

I know for sure that the usual idea of god is not true, because it has many contradictions and errors in logic.

I might try to convince you, if I thought you were open to reason.

Do you believe faith trumps reason?

I think it's a compliment when I try to persuade someone. If I thought he was stupid, there would be no point in trying to reason with him.

If you are talking of the Biblical God, then you believe in a fairy tale. If you are willing to spend some time with your mind in reason mode try the web site below. If you are talking about a Creator God, the jury is out on that one, I don't think that anyone has the answer. That includes all the Bible pounders.

I believe in God, so I'm obviously not an atheist... but here is my opinion on atheism. You cannot blame those who don't believe until they see it, but you also shouldn't disagree with those who believe without physical evidence. :) It's like saying, how do you know we're alone in the universe. Also, atheists may not believe in "God" but they do believe in something. So, in that way, they're not atheists... to be a true "non-believer" is to have no hope, I think.

Well can you prove he is? I mean is there ANY science that suggests this?

You can view planets and life forming everywhere in the universe, I do think that this is "GOD's" doing. You can see evolution in rocks and sediments thru out time. There is too much evidence to suggest otherwise.

There is no way to know for sure. If it is you will only know when you die...but if he isn't real there will be no afterlife therefore you will have no moment of time in which you are both dead and in posession of this knowledge. Thay is why there is no way to know if he doesn't exist. Now, if he does exist, then you will have time in the afterlife to realize the truth.
