I've been in public school for about 6 months but my mom did'nt like it so I got homeschooled again. And my parents say I can't get into public school till I'm 14(High school age)But I can't wait that long!(2 whole long and boring years)How do I tell her how I really feel?I've been homeschooled my whole life and I don't have any friends ever since I got homeschooled.I feel like I'm in prison or something....

TELL HER THAT YOU WANT TO SOCIALIZE WITH OTHER KIDS AND SEE HOW IT FEELS TO BE IN A SCHOOL WITH OTHER CHILDREN, AND THAT YOU HAVE MORE OPPORTUNITIES IN A SCHOOL SUCH AS PLAYING FOOTBALL,BASEBALL,BASKETBALL, OR WHATEVER SPORT YOU LIKE PLAYING. TELL HER YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE WHAT OTHER KIDS EXPERIENCE COZ U THINK YOU ARE MISSING OUT AND WHEN YOU GROW UP AND READY TO MOVE OUT, IT MAY BE DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO ADJUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THE LIFE OUTSIDE "HOME" IF SHE DOESN'T UNDERSTAND TRY TELLING ANOTHER PERSON WHO IS CLOSE TO YOU OR HER, LIKE AN AUNT OR UNCLE OR EVEN ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS TO TALK TO HER...ALL THE BEST!

If your mom is homeschooling you please consider it a blessing-

If you want a social life, public school is not the place you wanna be-

Instead ask your mom to get you in Social activities like Girl Scouts, Chirches have cool Youth Groups, Homeschool Groups Etc

Public School is more of a prison than home school
You have Peer Pressure from other kids and even Teachers
You can't learn at your own pace
You may have friends but youll also have a bunch of kids bulling you-
Its very tough.

I had the worse time of my life in High School and by age 16 I dropped out and got my GED

I wish my mom would have homeschooled me-

Kids are nasty and its not getting better because no one shows disapline in schools anymore.
Learn to enjoy your homeschooling because time will go fast. The more you complain about it the slower it will go.

Believe it or not, homeschooling generally does a better job of educating you that public school. I know you don't want to think about it, because you are too close to the situation. Analyse the situation, and decide what you like about being home schooled, and what you don't.
Put two columns on a piece of paper(devide it in half) and list on one side the benefits, and on the other, the lack of benefits. Try not to let your feelings get in the way.(This is hard for a person your age).

Look for 2 possible outcomes....other than what you have already. 1. You switch to public school: You better have VERY good arguments for this.
2. You find a way to make the social contacts you lack, possibly by joing a local school's atheletic programs(mandated in most states), or a local school's after-school programs, and social programs. Check it out, you can be home-schooled, and still participate in your public school's activities.

Good luck, and if you have road-blocks, please feel free to contact me. I think I can help.

Well i love homeschooling i think its fun and i have ALOT of friends both home schooled an public schooled. I like homeschooling because you can go to the bathroom whenever you want, you can eat whenever you want and you can have some help if you really don't understand something. I think you should just stick it out and trust you will thank her. My brothers have been home schooled for almost all there life and now my second oldest brother is a paramedic and hes only eighteen.

I've been right where you are right now, sweetie. I was homeschooled from K-12th grade and never spent one day in a private OR public school settings. There were many days that I didn't want to do it anymore. But I pushed through and just graduated last week. Trust me on this one buddy, even though it may not seem like it ... your mom knows best on this one!

Have you ever heard of a homeschool co-op?
You go to school (usually at a church) one day a week and have enrichment classes or some of your regular classes. The teacher gives you your assignment to do at home. They have all kinds of recreational activities for you to get involved in and lots of friends for you to meet. I am a teacher at a co-op and in my city we have about 10 of them. Where I teach we have 300 students on Thursdays. That may be a compromise if your parents just aren't going to let you go to public school. Nearly all of our students really enjoy it. If there is nothing in your town, then I agree with the others. Whine, beg, plead, and show your parents that you won't be influenced by others.

Be honest with them. Say how you are really feeling, but don't sound like you are whining. Sit down with them and discuss it. If they still say no, accept it. You can then ask about getting into some "after-school"-type programs so you can meet kids your age and make Friends. Try to get into something where you will meet people from the school you will attend.

Most of all, remember to have fun and learn as much as you can in whatever you do.

"Mom, I don't want to be homeschooled anymore." Then take it from there.
But first prepare her, tell her you have something you feel like you need to talk about.
Tell her how you FEEL. Be real. Good luck!

just tell her how it will effect your social life later on when you go home, its the main thing you will find hard with in life, you will probably find it hard to socialise with your peers and people later on in life.Tell her you wont be motivated enough to do corosspondance and you hate routines.
