After piercings, it is quite common to have soreness and swelling for a few days. But, you should watch out for a few changes. If the piercing hurts more than it did the day after you got it pierced, if you see red streaks around the piercing, if you have any discharge that looks yellow or greenish, then you might have an infection or you might be allergic to the metal you were pierced with. It is highly unlikely that you would have an infection after 3 days, but you might. And you should only have stainless steel in your piercing at this point. If you are experiencing any of this, or if you have any questions, I suggest you first talk to a licenced piercing/tattoo artist. They can tell you if it is normal or not. If you have any doubts, go to a doctor and see what they suggest. They might reccommend that you remove the jewelry or they could give you a round of antibiotics.

For now, you might try sucking on popsicles or chewing ice. Avoid ANYTHING spicy or carbonated.

In any case, at least consult a professional. Good luck.

Suck on Ice it will decrease the blood flow to your tongue. Take ibuprofen (advil) it is an anti inflamatory
Salt water rinse (one teaspoon of salt to an 8 ounce glass of warm water) and rinse like you would with a mouth wash (swish and spit) the iodine in the salt is a natural antiseptic and will promote healing. Rinse with a mouth wash like listerine the alcohol content will kill germs that can cause infection. If the swelling continues and your tongue becomes tender, throbbing, drains pus, etc... take the stud out and go to a doctor you have an infection.

My brother got his tongue pierced years ago. He almost took it out because it was so painful for so long. Eventually it healed and he is fine but it was rough going for a long time. You could try sucking on ice to lessen the swelling. Also, ibuprofen helps a bit. Just hang in there. It takes a while to feel better. Also, make sure you are rinsing with listerine to kill germs and expedite healing.

Mine was swollen and sore for about a week, I couldnt speak normal for about two, so i would just look forother things like nasty stuff in it or pain gets worse and worse and not better,, and it should go away if its not an infection. Dont use listerine pure on it, if you use listerine mix it half way with water to dilute it, it can mess with it. Also, use biotene. It works good. Use it a ton of times a day for the first couple months. Good luck!

I dont believe that it should still be swollen. I would go se your dentist or medical doctor. Infections are a big risk with oral piercings and they can cause serious problems if not treated soon enough.
Until then take some Ibuprofen as it is an antiinflammatory and pain reliever, unlike aspirin or tylenol.

If the good lord had intended us to pierce our bodies he would've stuck the 1st hole thru your frontal lobe because ppl certainly aren't using it!! Have u seen some of these freaks? It's really very ugly, I cannott believe people have fetishes with this stuff! Anyhoo...it sounds like some infection that may be festering so pls go to the doctor, do you have one? If you don't then go to a free clinic, anything!
