I am always amazed that people who think nothing of having sex with multiple partners are so incensed over a woman breastfeeding in public. What IS the big deal? It isn't like you haven't played with or seen breasts before. Is it jealousy that the baby is getting what you aren't?

Women have the right to nurse anywhere they want. Most do cover themselves but they do not have to leave an area just because someone's offended by a natural body function.

Geez, imagine if woman vacated an area every time a guy let out an obnoxious burp or passed gas. Guys do it all the time and think it is hilarious...yet they woud be immensely offended if we told them how rude it is to fumigate us. I find those functions far more offensive then seeing someone breastfeed.

I Dont Think So Beacuse Its Something Thats Very Natural. Plus Its Not Like No One Has Seen A Breast Or Have Any. Millions Of Babies Are Breast Fed Or Were. So People Shouldnt Be Saying That They Have To Go Somewhere Private. They were Probably Breast Fed As A Baby. Hey Who Know There Mom Could Have Breast Fed Them In Public.

Breast feeding is natural and IF no one ever made a sexual innuendo about women's breasts when they were breast-feeding their babies, chances are, nobody would ever have felt or feel uncomfortable about it.

However, as we can see by reading some of the answers above, there will always be some rude person who will cheapen the loveliness and beauty meant by nature.

Because of that, some people are very uncomfortable with a woman baring her breast in public. Since it is possible to cover the breast without any inconvenience to either baby or mother, I believe it is courteous to cover the breast while feeding the baby.

I believe if it is possible mother should take baby to a quiet place. But for another reason. The the concept is the calmer the feeding, the calmer the baby, and the better the meal digests.

I don't feel that women should have to go to a private area to breastfeed, unless they want to do that themselves. Concealing should be at the discretion of the mother. If I were at an art gallery, then yes, I would cover myself, but I would not hide, unless I was uncomfortable with the situation. If I were at a friends house with a bunch of people, I don't think I would cover myself as much as I would elsewhere. Also, when breastfeeding, there is a certain amount of concealing anyways. It isn't like someone is going to be in the middle of the mall with her shirt off and breasts hanging out. The shirt covers most anyways. There is NOTHING to be ashamed over breastfeeding. Why be ashamed of something that has been proven to be the best thing for both mother and child?

I just feel that it should be left up to the mothers comfort level, not laws and how other people feel. If you don't like it, don't look.

Breast feeding makes a lot of people uncomfortable. Out of respect they should go to a private place.

America is a country that views a woman's breast as a sexual object. In foreign countries, the woman's breast is regarded as mechanism used to feed a baby. It is common to see a woman breastfeed in public almost anywhere except the U.S.

I've breastfed two children. My personal preference is to cover my baby up when he/she latches on and then uncover the baby's face while still covering my breast as he/she feeds. It is very warm for a baby to feed under a blanket! So long answer short, women should be able to feed their babies in public.

no its okay for women to conceal themselves if there is no private area to go to because its only natural when they are breast feeding their babies.

I personally don't feel it offensive to see a woman breastfeeding in public,I think it's beautiful and natural. However, some feel that it is inappropriate in front of children or whatever.I don't feel that she should necessarily go into a private area but perhaps should at least cover the breast somewhat just out of respect.

No! Breast feeding is a perfectly natural way to feed an infant and has been done since before man had intelligence. If men could recognize it for what it was before he had intelligence why do people these days get offended by it. Its SO natural and lifegiving!!

Its great that you are breastfeeding! And no I don't think you need to go to a private place - like its shameful, you are giving your baby the best start in life! Some don't like to see it so maybe you could try and conceal your breast, otherwise if they don't like it, stuff it, they shouldn't be looking! lol
