Be brave and call the dentist.
In the meantime take Advil to help with pain and inflammation.

Call the dentists office and tell them you are in pain. Most dentist's offices have an emergency number you can call. If you have an abscess you will need an antibiotic and some Tylenol... or what the dentist tells you to take. A receptionist at a dentists office who schedules appointments doesn't always understand the urgency. Make sure he/she knows you are in pain. If the appt. isn't moved to Monday at the latest... find another dentist.

Go to another dentist. This is a true emergency if there is swelling and pain. If it is just a sore tooth, it probably isnt an absessed tooth. Your dentist should have been able to see you the same day.
Until then try Ibuprofen because that is an antiinflammatory and pain reliever.

If you think it is absessed I would call another dentist and see if you could be seen sooner.
Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water is an old standby for a toothache. Can't hurt to try it...In my experience OTC painkillers like Tylenol don't help much with a severe toothache but you could try using whichever one you like best.
Some people put clove oil on a Qtip and then apply to the painful tooth (If you try this be sure you are not allergic to it first and before using anything new!) this supposedly can help deaden the pain.
I'd really suggest calling another dentist....

If the pain is unbearable, go to the ER. I had to do that last summer. The ER has a dental room and dentists on call. The dentist came in, did x-rays and examined the tooth. Gave me an antibiotic and pain medication. Kept me going till I could see my dentist.

You need to get in to see your dentist as soon as possible. If the tooth is abcessed you will need to be put on antibiotics for at least a week before it can be pulled so when you call the dentist tell them that it is an emergency.

take Tylenol or Motrin, whatever works better for you. Don't let the pain get too bad. But 5th of July is way too far away! You can get serious infection or even die if this gets into you bloodstreem.
