This really depends on a lot of things - like what exactly you believe, how you came to believe it, and what you are looking for in a church.
Similar to one of the other responders, I belong to a Church that considers itself to be the true and original Christian Church, from both an historical and a dogmatic / theological point of view, but it is not the Roman Catholic church. It is the Orthodox Church, which we believe is the true One Holy Catholic (meaning "universal" in Greek) and Apostolic Church, from which the Roman Catholics split almost a thousand years ago to go their own separate way (later leading to all of the countless Protestant denominations that exist today). By contrast, the Orthodox Church has been in continuous existence since the foundation of the Christian Church on the day of Pentecost of 33AD, and has never changed or strayed from the Apostolic teaching or traditions.
Anyway, you'll have to see what feels right to you, and make your own decision. But an interesting book to read is "The Orthodox Church" by Timothy Ware - I'm pretty sure you can get it on Amazon. It has a lot of information about the history of Christianity, and the authenticity of faith and tradition of the Orthodox Church as the true Church.

Wherever you go, be sure the church follows the scriptures. They absolutely must place God first.
I've been to a few churches that conduct themselves like, "Look at all the attractive people we have at our church! Look at our lovely bell choir! Just check out the interior of our worship hall! Check out our cool PowerPoint presentations during the sermon!" Pride, pride, pride.
Talk to the pastor, talk to some random church goers, or (for some real insight) talk to some random people outside of the church. Just make sure the church you choose is a Bible-believing, Christ-worshipping church and not a temple with "mirrors on the inside of the windows".

Find a church that makes you feel like you belong there. Make sure it is a Bible teaching church with a Bible teaching pastor. Pray and ask for the wisdom to discern the word as it is taught at this church by this pastor and God will let you know if you made a wish choice.
Jesus loves you and will help you find a church.

I view the Catholic Church as the original Christian Church. On a purely historical basis, all other denominations of Christianity have branched off from Catholocisim or a subsequent Protestant faith. That is one of the reasons why I am recently returning to the Catholic faith after being a lapsed Catholic for many years. I welcome you to attend a Mass and/or talk to a priest to learn more.
Of course, you need to find what is right for you. I attended several different churches before I decided to convert to Catholocism. Good luck to you.

I recomend a community church, or a non-denominatinal church.
But please choose a church that teaches from the Bible, a good Bible to start out with is the NIV or the NLT translations. They are a little easier to read than the KJV.
I hope this helps! God Bless, and I will be praying for you!
God Loves YOU
Heather :)

Try a Catholic Church. It is the original Christian Church . Besides The Catholic Church has a wonderful RCIA (Rite of Christian initiation of Adults) That will walk you through the a journey of faith. Actually if you go through the RCIA and don't feel the Catholic Church is right for you you don't have to join.
God Bless you on your quest for Christ.

If you are really interested in growing in your Bible knowledge I suggest you get in contact with a Jehovah's Witness go to their place of meeting called a Kingdom Hall and ask for a "Bible Study". I know that it is possible that you heard a lot of unpleasant things about this group, but my advice to you is you will never know until you try. You will learn alto from them. I did and I will never go any where else. Your life will be more fulfilling and you will feel that you are really pleasing God the way He wants you to. I hope you take this into consideration. I'm only saying this because I care : )

Find a Bible based church that teaches the clear simple teachings of the Bible. Stay away from "sign seeking" churches, Jessus said an evil adultress people seek for signs.
