Why do christians try to belittle other religions by constantly bragging about their salvation?

Stephen Hawking is the smartest person on the planet and he doesn't beleive in god. Maybe you should read some books from people like him. You know maybe some theories about stuff the guy that wrote E=mc sqaured.

Then read some stuff about cognitive thinking. And why people think the way they do.

Don't be afraid to be alittle more self-aware. You'll find your life alot happier after. Did all that praying help Terry Sivio? The only person that can solve your problems is you. God isn't gonna help you.

Else you'd like to follow some belief some moron over 2000 years ago wrote for the rest of your life.

Its just a power tool for people that want to control. Look at Iraq. People blow themselves up cause someone tells them if they do they will meet 75 virgins in heaven after they die. BS.

I first think you are generalizing because not all Christians "brag" about their own personal salvation. They do try to spread the good news, as directed by Jesus, to go and make disciples of all peoples and nations and perhaps in their doing this, you perceive it as "bragging" but truly it is not...it is a sharing of the good news of Jesus and all others are, of course, free to either accept or reject this message. Some Christians are very zealous and "on fire" for the love of Jesus Christ and others are mildly lukewarm and it shows in their responses as they answer questions out here. But be careful not to generalize because not all Christians can be lumped together and generalized about. Some do put down other religions and that is unfortunate but I believe it is from a sense of knowing they have a "faith" that they know and believe is truth and are not accepting of anything less. I personally am a Catholic Christian and I try to be very respectful and tolerant of all other beliefs, at the same time I will speak the truth about my beliefs even at the risk of being criticized or misunderstood but we all are on a journey and perhaps we will never be truly reconciled as to all the different religions in our world, but there is no reason we cannot be reconcilled in love and respect for each other as human beings, because we are all God's children.

Because salvation is everything. Without it there's no access to God. I wouldn't say they're bragging as much as "informing." There are way too many religions out there and they only confuse people. God sent Jesus to give us access back to Him (something mankind lost when Adam ate from the tree of good and evil). Salvation in Christ is the only way. As mentioned by several other answerers, most Christians who talk about salvation through Jesus are not meaning to brag but to share important information. (Of course, some ARE bragging, but there are jerks in all areas of life, Christian and otherwise.) You have to realize that, to a deeply religious person, their beliefs are not just opinions....they believe them to be the truth. So, if someone truly believes that the only way to avoid Hell is through Jesus Christ, wouldn't he be a bigger jerk NOT to tell you about it? Not sharing that information would basically be comparable to not telling you that the airplane you are about get on is going to crash (if that person truly had reason to believe that it was going to.) I've been on both sides of this (am a Christian now, but went through many years of questioning first) so I understand the tendency to be defensive and take it as an affront to others' beliefs. But most Christians really do care about their fellow man and just want to help them find the same peace that feel that they have. So try to understand this and maybe cut them a little slack next time you feel they are trying to convert you :)

because they want to tell others that they recieved the gift of the holy ghost and they want to brag about it which is what god wants everyone to do. But it depends on what religion and what they believe. Like for example people are alittle scared of pennecostal's cause they fasten and when they pray they get soo moved by the spirit of god and start to jump up or yell when they are praying cause alot of people don't realize that is a (anoting well something like that)
but we don't want to ever try to argue with other people that are totally different religion. And some people have a regligion that they are not really been all their life and do it cause their friend told them or whoever and not belive it themselves and the meaning of it.

What exactly don't you understand about this verse?

Christ is the path to salvation, no other way.
Christ is the truth of God's Word, no other truth.
Christ is the life eternal, no other.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Christ is the tree of life.

All other so-called religions are deception and lies.

Christ is returning for an harvest of souls and it's our job and pleasure to produce fruit.

If a christian would stop contemplated their "salvation", just soul search for a week, the truth would come. There is no salvation... It's insidious how Christianity works... you call the devil your savior... The Christians believe that they are above deception, the rest of us soul search to stay clean. Because they enjoy boasting like Paul. But other religions don't have an angry god who has to die to save his children from himself, so there is no salvation required. They invented an illness so as to be able to sell a cure.

Truth is not the MONOPOLY of christians...there are bigger and more logical philosophies in eastern religions

But their leaders willl never let them study other faith, and try to malign other faiths by strong publicity and propaganda.

But can Truth be stopped from emerging
