Keep the cat - work with your vet and try to curb the behaviour. He/she is obviously trying to tell you something if it is not using its box all the time. I worked at the Humane Society for 5 years - and I GUARENTEE they will put the cat to sleep. They leave them in cages until the vet comes and it is very cold and heartless. If you ABSOLUTELY cannot keep the cat - put it down at your vet - let it die with grace and dignity - since it was such a good pet to you.

I'm trying to figure out your situation. First, why are you shutting the cat up in a room away from your children? Are you afraid they will catch some disease or something? It sounds like your cat doesn't get nearly enough attention...which could be the reason she "leaves evidence." What reason does the Humane Society give for not taking the cat? I've never heard of that before. If your cat was OK in your old home, then why wouldn't she be OK in your new home? Doesn't make sense. You want to get rid of her because you're afraid she will poop or something on your new carpet?
I'm sorry, but my first impression is that the cat really does need to have a new owner. I don't think you have given it the love and attention it deserves. You adapt to the cat...the cat doesn't have to adapt to you. If you look hard enough, there will be somebody out there who can take good care of it.
I would never give up my 2 cats for any reason in the world...be it a new house or one million $$. They are asleep on my bed at this very moment, not shut off in the back of the house. Cats and other pets are not toys that can be put on the shelf when you don't want to play with them anymore. No offense, but I think you will be better off with goldfish in your new house, or maybe a stuffed animal. I'm sorry your kids will not experience the joys of having a pet because it poops...so do humans.

It sounds as if the poor creature has had a pretty crappy life under your care. If nothing else let the animal go free and enjoy life for a few days . If I was shut up in a back room with only a bowl of water and a stinking litter pan, I would mess your house too, every chance I got.

If you do not keep a litter box clean, a cat will not use it, and it is best to have 2 boxes, placed in rooms the cat visits most often.

attempt using a various variety of muddle. He might unlike what you have gotten - did you turn to a minimum of something he advance into no longer used to? attempt some "Cat charm to" muddle - that works especially stable. to pass alongside with this, you may ought to get a great cage, for cats, and shop him in it for a on an identical time as, on an identical time as he's relearning to apply the muddle container. it rather is in lots of situations ;especially effective. the different ingredient is the size of the muddle container! no remember if it rather is merely too small he might have an argument with that! Get a larger tote that he may be greater gentle squatting in. Has something on your loved ones replaced? Has somebody moved out, have you ever moved to a various place, a clean infant, and so on? have you ever gotten a clean puppy tht may be chasing him from the muddle container? Cats are very gentle and gets dissatisfied and have injuries whilst the dynamics of a kin replace. Are you specific he does not have a actual concern, together with crystals or a bladder an infection? each from time to time cats might have discomfort whilst going potty and whilst they try this interior the muddle container (as is envisioned) they think of something with the muddle container is inflicting the discomfort and could stay removed from it. Take him to the vet to be appeared at and to rule out actual issues. until a urinalysis is executed, you won't be in a position to constantly tell there's a concern until it rather is too previous due. stable success to you! i'm happy you're searching for for solutions and help!!

i agree with the answerer itsme randy because sounds like you are a cruel person who just cares about yourself and your belongings
which is pretty sad
you keep her shut up in the back?
hmm..maybe someone should keep you shut up in the back with a litterbox and some food. sounds like a plan to me.
why would you give her away just to move into a house? because of your precious new house..how pathetic!
How about finding someone who loves cats and giving it to them because you obviously don't give it love and attention...no wonder she leaves evidence..haha you deserve it.
Give that wonderful little baby kitten to a real animal lover.
Which you are NOT.
I also suggest no more pets for you.
If I knew anyone who did that to their cats, I would call the Humane Society on them. kthnx :]

Call No-kill shelters -- they do not put animals to "sleep".
Ask friends, family if one can take it.
Maybe make her an "outdoor cat" at your new home?
Run an ad in the local paper (include her age). Papers usually run FREE "free to good home" ads.
If you can find public bulletin boards, put up an "ad". (Grocery, discount stores, public library...)
Often, librarians have & love cats. (I wanted to give some kittens away -- asked there -- each already have 9 or 11.) Ask in person - maybe have a picture handy.
Good luck. Wish I could help...

if there is no way you can keep it then try friends/famliy or you local newspaper but tell them about its problem so the new owners figure her out and dump her some where .or you can try and slove the problems but finding help over the internet, friends , family but if you have no options but to give her away as soon as possible try giving her to a rescue group that wont put her down and find her a forever home thats knows about her problem but still loves her as much as you do!!!

i 've had cats all my life and i never felt it was fair to keep a pet caged up ... no matter how big the cage... make a decision to bring the cat into your family life ,live w/ her short commings [ we all have them] or devote yourself full time to getting her a better home ... this you are obligated to do as her gaurdian... you chose her ... you cant abandon her when things get tough.. when you take a pet you should be prepared to treat that creature of GOD with decency and dignity for 20yrs or more.

give your cat more freedom, let her out side, don't pass her on to someone else, animals are people too, passing them around from person to person leaves mental scares, 7 years think she's ready to love someone else?
