So much of whether you get cavities has to do with genetic stuff regarding the density of the teeth. Some people's teeth are more "hollow" than others and break easier and get cavities easier, and if you're that way, well, you're more prone than others to get cavities, like it or not. Beyond that, what you eat, some of which may chip your teeth, like ice or popcorn kernels, are things you need to stay away from. Also, and I hope you read this part closely, whether you floss your teeth has a helluva lot to do with dental health. A whole lot of people don't like to take the time to floss their teeth, and they think if they just brush harder or more often or if they use one of the hundreds of mouth washes that promise this and that, that they won't need to floss. None of the aforementioned dental health care will remove the need to floss. I know there is advertised on tv a lot of "substitute" things that promise that you don't need to floss if you just do what they say. Maybe some new gimmick will do the job, but if you're not ABSOLUTELY SURE that whatever you do will actually do what flossing does, then FLOSS!!! At least once at night!! All of your teeth, front to back, top and bottom. You'll keep your teeth a whole lot longer if you hear what I'm saying and do it. And you'll be damn glad you kept your teeth. Let me also tell you that the girls will appreciate your better smelling breath as you get romantic, etc., and want to kiss her. And when you do this regularly, you'll be able to smell the difference between women who floss and those who don't, and you'll be pickier about who you kiss, no matter how beautiful they are!! Okay, I'll shut up since maybe I've given you more than you asked for, but I came to realize over the years that if you truly tend to your teeth, you'll be a happier man, and you'll have happier babes around you, and you won't be seeing the dentist as much. Have a good life, and God Bless you.

I heard from the time of my childhood, that sugar like candy, bubble gun are the biggest responsible for cavities...but I am not sure.
Anyway brushing your teeth as much as you can, that thing about 3 times a day, I think helps the maintains of your teeth, but isn't enough to prevent it of getting cavities...I still think to best prevent the cavities formation on your teeth is to stay away of sugar, because it was all I learn about it...by the way I don't have to say about flossing right?

Everytime you are through eating a meal, go rinse your mouth with mouthwash, swiching the liquid between your teeth for a minute or so. If your tongue is coated, brush it. Use a water pik before you go to sleep at night. Eating apples works to keep your teeth clean.Don't postpone going to the dentist. But don'texpect the dentist to oppose MercuryAnd the American Dental ***'n oks it. Some dentists do remove Mercury fillings from teeth, and fill with porcelain etc

First of all, do what everyone else suggested. Then you go to the dentist and have sealant put on your molars. And NEVER eat: caramels, gummy anything, raisins, fruit roll-ups or leathers, jelly beans, or any jelly-like candy. My kids stopped eating those things and had their teeth sealed, and went from having 2 root canals on their baby teeth to have 0 cavities on their adult teeth in 6 years! Our dentist said she'd rather have them eat a pound of chocolate a day than 1 raisin! That kind of thing just adheres to your teeth and they don't brush off easily.

Brush your teeth at least twice a day, particularly at night, with a tooth paste containing floride. Avoid 'sugary' snacks (candy etc) And see your dentist twice a year for check up, cleaning and fluride treatment. I am almost 48 and have never had a cavity.

Brush, floss, and rinse more often. And don't eat a lot of food with a ton of sugar. Cut back on soft drinks and kool-aid. Don't grind your teeth. Don't eat too many things that you have to hold in your mouth (jawbreakers, suckers, jolly ranchers, just about any hard candies). Chew sugar free gum.

You can brush your teeth more, like three times a day. Or after every meal. Stop eating junk food and start eating healthy.
