Canned pumpkin is one of those rare things that works as well as the fresh considering the time and effort it takes to get the same thing from a fresh pumpkin. You would have to seed, peel, bake, and puree a fresh to get the same thing as whats in the can. Hope it helps. Bebe

Of course if the ingredients say only pumpkin then yes it would be the same as pumpkin puree. Usually canned pumpkin is a mixture of a variety of squash. Even though it is time consuming to clean, cook or bake and then mash pumpkin, you can't beat the flavor, it is well worth it.

Yes as long as it's mushy,pumpkin is very soft anyway.

read the ingridients, if it says pumkin, and just pumpkin then yes its the same.... if it says other stuff, then its pumpkin pie filling
