At her age, Once a day about a half of a cup of kibble, as long as it is a high quality kibble. Do not give canned, yorkies have teeth problems and this will make their teeth rot.

You can feed 2x a day but just don't gice as much at each meal. A dogs feed is made up so that they do not need to be fed like humans (several times a day), because they require less than us as well.

Yorkies are considered a toy breed, not miniature;-) Like all toy breeds the weight/size will vary. My yorkie is also 3 pounds. I feed her once a day and she is at a perfect weight for her size.

Twice a day is plenty for a dog. They don't really need lunch like we do. Once in the morning and once at night (around dinner time, when you're eating) is sufficient.

With a dog that small, 1/4 - 1/2 cup at each feeding should be enough. Start out with 1/2 cup, and if you find that it's not finishing it, back off to 1/4 cup. On the other hand, you can also start out with just 1/4 cup, and if you see that it's still hungry or unsatisfied, increase it. Use this trial-and-error method until you see how much is just right for her/him. Every dog is different, so it's hard to plan on a set, fixed amount.

Good luck!

What does your vet say? Or call a good pet store. I always feed my grown dogs once a day but you can break the one meal into two small meals. Be careful not to overfeed and adjust for the dogs activity. If it gets a lot of exercise, it may need a tiny bit more or need to have the 2 small meals to keep it feeling full and healthy. Some breeds are prone to certain disorders or allergies and such. A call to the vet should quickly answer your concerns. I would definitely not use food from the grocery store. Go to the pet store and get one of the brands that the dog's body will utilize well. You will know if they are using most of it by the small feces. If it is large and puffy, they are not being well fed. Probably more than you wanted to know.

If you are giving dry dog food you can give him a bowl and let him take a bite when he wants. If he gulps it all down all at once, feed him once a day. read the can or bag, this will usually tell how much to feed per pound of dog.

Get a good quality dog food and feed her twice a day, morning and night. It should tell you on the bag how much to feed.

Let him eat as he wishes that is the way it should be. Just make sure he gets ample exercise. every animal i own has a full dish of food always. I think it takes the edge off feeding time. they can eat little bits all day instead of inhaling a cup of food in a sitting. None of my animals have weight problems.

boy I'd guess not too much. Call your vet and ask them or read up on it on line. I don't think the dog food package tell you how much for a little little dog.
