My mom is making me get braces and don't get me wrong i want to got them but I need to know more about them. My dentest is telling me that it doesn't hurt but everyone I know is telling me it does hurt.So who should I bealive?

I had them... it DOES hurt. If your teeth are crooked though, it's worth it. Mine weren't though, and my orthodontist ripped off my mom because he made her believe my teeth would EVENTUALLY become crooked. Riiight. When they came off, they looked exactly the same as they did when I had them put on. They really do hurt, though. They'll tear up the insides of your cheeks, and it will hurt so much everytime they tighten the wires. You should try Invisalign, or something.
lol They definitely DON'T look cool either. They make your mouth look all retarded, whether it's open or closed.

it doesnt hurt at all just that every month u go to them tightened up it ur mouth feels a bit sore but its not like oh my god it hurts so bad its just a little pain way less painful then a pinch but u need to ask for wax because the wires may cause u to get lots of sores cuz it can cut ur skin on the inside of ur mouth thats waht my dentist gave me and when ur done with the braces thing use ur retainer as much as u can because later on it wont fit right and it will hurt thats what happened to me!! oh and the dentist will tell u what not to eat and stuff, like I remember I coulndt drink much soda becasue it would do something to the glue that stuck the braces together and stuff and hell get angry what a lsoer i know but ur dentist should explain everything to u!!

very, very tricky.... im afraid. i have them until i am u seniro. im currently a sophmore. the basics are brush frequently (after every meal; preferably) be careful when eating hard, crunchy foods. when u break an arch wire or other piece of your braces, get it fixed immediatly. otherwise, it can make problems worse. with your "hurting" dilema, they do. but, they only hurt a little while after they have been tightened. thats when you eat softer foods--- Yay ice cream!. i wish you the best of luck with your braces. i know its a pain in the beginning, but its worth it in the long run. you will love the results of your teeth if you follow the orthododtist instructions, and a few of the tips i have prvided above :P

I had braces for 5 years, I was strange, I had 3 front teeth, not 2, 3, had surgery, when it came through one was sideways, got braces and I hate to tell you, they hurt like H _ _ _ !! I wasn't able to eat mac & cheese!! They hurt but if you need them, they are well worth the pain!!

I am on my 3rd kid in braces. The only pain that they talk about is when the braces have to be tightened. This is usually relieved with Advil/Motrin and goes away in a couple days. If you'd have to wear headgear, it is the same thing- it only hurts when it gets tightened. It is worth it to have a beautiful smile....

Yep, I have them. They hurt like a mug the first week you get them. They look cool on most people. The first week you get them, it will hurt because you are not used to them. But afterwarrds, you feel nothing. Getting your wires tightened doesn't even hurt. Believe your friends.

they hurt when they change them an hour after but the pain goes away and they don't hurt at all. I don't know what else to write about them. I'm getting mine off on December! finally. two years later!

I'm getting mine in July. The dentist told me that they only hurt the first couple of days and the tightenings. yay. that makes me excited. so, you're not gonna wanna eat for a while.

Well..it doesn't really hurt..But when ever you get the wires tightened..I'd eat as little as possible of foods that need alot of chewing..but the next day should be fine.

braces are awesome! thier in style now.im nine and i have braces. all the kids say that im cool. it dosent hurt at all dont belive everyone else. plus kids tell the truth and i dont go around lieing on yahoo answers so who do you velive me or everyone you know? plus does everyone you know have braces
