I think that it has to do with the insaneness of the world that we live in. Life is too hurried and stressful and everyone is trying to keep up. Society and the media put so many expectations on people to achieve and be perfect. Everyone is competing.

Also in viewing our world around us, there is so much negative things going on: war, hunger, child abuse, disease, drugs, crime, homelessness, children killing children, etc...... Who wouldn't be depressed thinking about all this.

Even technology as wonderful as it is to make our life easier, has also had a detrimental effect. People don't think and use their minds as much because a machine does it. We don't get the physical exercise and movement that we need, we have gadgets and electronics to do everything for us. It is a fact, that exercise and physical health contribute to good mental health.

Not working off our stress physically contributes to depression and illness.

Also, it has become a "colder" world. People care less about others all the time and think more of themselves. Parents don't spend as much time with kids or nurture and love them because they are too busy making money, living life, competing, etc.... People just get too stressed to give a damn about anyone else and are caught up in their own lives and interests.

So it isn't surprising that so many people are depressed.

there must be a hidden answer to it.. the lunar cycle and tidal shifts..
and yep.. all the rights of the world definitely go wrong when clinical depression sets in..
a seemingly endless cycle of confusion, and general feeling that there is nothing going well. A natural response to things that aren't going well.. Or in the worst case there is no reason for it and it is genetics or a chemical imbablance of the brain when depression just sneaks in unannounced.. in time it will pass.. but in the moment there is no way out..
could be anything.. who knows ?
All I know is that is a riddle with no answer to me.. A deceitful conundrum.

Depression is a result of a lot of factors. It could be low cholesterol, nurture, genes, environment, and the stars too which you said could influence ones emotions, etc. I have a web site that could help people. I started also a foundation to help people in situations like it. Hope this helps.
