what are some good ideas for a baby shower (games and stuff)?

There are several sites online that offer free baby shower games (bingo, word hunt, etc). In my experience, I have found that most people are tired of typical shower games.

1. Melt various chocolate bars and smear them onto a disposable diaper. One kind of candy per diaper (i.e. one diaper with Kit Kat, another with a Hershey's bar, another with kisses, another with Snickers). Number the diapers, (keep a list that tells you which candy is in which diaper) and then give guests a piece of paper with the numbers and a place to write down the candy next to each number. The person with the most right wins. It's a blast.

2. Have the group break up into small teams of two or three people. Give each team a couple containers of play-dough. While the parents are out of the room, each team has to make a baby. The parents come back in and pick the one they like best - the winner. (limit time to 5 or 10 minutes max).

3. Like the diaper/chocolate game, number baby food jar lid, take the labels off and have people guess what kind of food is in each jar. To make it slightly (but not very much) easier, provide a list of all the foods (not in the order of the jars) so people have something to choose from.

4. Do a word scramble. Pick common baby/nursery terms, scramble them up and give guests a time limit to unscramble. The person with the most unscrambled at the end wins.

Baby food tasting. have the guests taste various kinds of baby food and see if they can figure out what it is.

How big is mom. Have the guests cut a piece of string or toilet paper to the length they think mom is around the middle.

Say Baby; each guest receives a diaper pin and through out the shower if they say the word "baby", they then lose their pin. The person with the most pins or still has their pin is the winner.

One that I used at a recent shower is I spelled out the baby's name and asked the guests to see how many 3+ letter words they could make out of the name.

Each person attending has to guess how many sqares of toilet paper it will take to get around mommys belly by tearing it off and putting it around the belly.The closest wins a prize. Baby word search, Bingo. Everyone gets a card that has Items the mother may get. When the mom to be opens the present the people check off an Item if it's on the card. first to go bingo wins. Of course making a baby bonnet with all the ribbons from the gifts on a paper plate. Not really a game but I still have mine.

OBABY - played like bingo. Give your guests a blank bingo grid with a free spot in the middle. They fill in what presents they think will be opened & mark them off as they are opened. It's fun!

Put a bunch of baby items on a tray & walk around the room. Put the tray away & the women must right down as many items as they can remember. Most items wins!

Everyone gets a diaper pin when they walk in to wear (or a safety pin). You cannot cross your legs or you lose your pin. The person with the most pins wins!

two cool ones that I saw recently are:

1) the host puts on an apron and attaches baby items to it and walks around for 2 mins, then the guests have to write down everythign that they remember. Like diaper, safety pin, wipes, nail clippers, etc.

2) the same host put different objects in ziploc baggies that represented a nursery ryhme or story. LIke Mary had a little lamb. She handed a stuffed lamb to a guest named Mary.

OH and you have to do guess what baby ate today game... put different baby foods in diapers and the guests have to guess what they are. NO TASTING.

at the beginning of the shower give everyone some bubblegum. (you know the kind in the blue wrapper) and have them chew the gum

at game time have everyone take the gum out of their mouth and hold it over their head and form baby out of the gum. Give them about 1 minute. Person with the closest resemblance to correct body parts (head, 2 arms, 2 legs) wins

p.s. make sure to hand out wipes after the game.
