My parents beat the hell out of me and I'm looking forward to beating the hell out of my kids in the future. Why did they do it? Beacuse I was a brat and needed to be put in line. I am thankful for it now, thus proving my mothers "You'll thank me for this later" prediction that was delivered during my beatings. Weapons of choice: Fathers gun belt (he was a cop), any handled cooking utensil (wooden spoons, plastic spatchulas), a freshly plucked switch from a tree, an old tennis shoe, and my favorite and by far the most painful-- that rubbery plastic track used for Matchbox Car sets, my butt hurts thinking about it even now, reminding me that it is not a good idea to shave my little sisters head bald.

Well there are many ways to properly administer a beating.

There is the traditional bare hand on a bare cheek which delivers a nasty sting.

Then there is "Dad's belt" Mostly used as a prop to strike instant terror into a child. Makes a nice loud crack but doesn't deliver the sting that a bare hand does, imho.

The Wooden spoon. Oh man that freakin hurts. After the first two beatings a child gets with a spoon all you have to do is mention you are going to get it and the child complies with demands. its a beautiful thing.

The best in my opinion is when you send the child to the tree outside to get the stick he/she is to be beaten with. "By god don't make me go get it you will really be sorry." A couple solid smacks with a switch hurts like hell. Trouble with the switch is that it tends to leave welts and draw blood if you do it right.

One good thing to keep in mind: The more pain you cause the child during a beating the less beating you will have to administer.

I wish I knew the answer. Maybe they just don't know where to put their anger and so unfortunately their kids become a convenient target of all their built up anger. It is sad that they can't see that they are hurting the people who they should be loving most in the world and doing anything and everything in their power to protect them. There is no excuse for hitting a child, and definitely no excuse for beating them. I have never hit my son. I use time-outs, early bedtime, and I take TV away from him. I think it is really easy to hit a child, the real challenge is being a good parent without having to resort to violence.

Well if the kid is bigger than you a weapon would suffice such as a stick, belt, or wet mop. If you are bigger than the kid then you should have no problem going bare knuckled against them. If you still cant beat them take a few martial arts courses without the child's knowledge and eventually you will have no problem using nun chucks to beat them down!

Its because they lose control of the kid and the easiest way to regain that control is to find the easiest way to let the kid know that the parent is in control by that being physical pain which result to beating.

Typically they use their hands and fists, but a belt is another common method. Most Asian kids have felt what the back end of a duster can do to a poor child's bottom.

I hate to say it but sometimes, a kid deserves it. Have you seen My Super Sweet 16? Some of those bratty kids really need a good whoopin' especially that one girl who just talked and treated her father like a piece of sh*t. She's the one who had Ciara perform at her party, I forget the girl's name.

Because it's called discipline, the wonder-kids of the 70's completely screwed up being parents and now we have all these weirdo's running around that weren't raised properly.

I agree mostly with psychology. Sure, kids need discipline, but noone deserves an outright beating.
