Make sure your getting all of the shampoo out of the cats hair. Dried shampoo can make anyone itch, especially animals. Try getting a flea and tick spray and spray your cat in the morning and at night. Spray down anything your cat enjoyes sitting on such as, your bed, couch, recliner, and so on to make sure your killing the fleas inside the house too. Fleas like anything that has hair, not just dogs. Hope this helps, and good luck!!

It could be that you're touching a part of him that he doesn't want touched (lots of cats don't like to be petted on their stomachs, or perhaps he's got a spot that hurts).

Generally, cats do like to scratch when they're playing. You could always clip his nails (but DON'T declaw him- it's the same as amputating your fingers at the first knuckle and will cause him awful pain).

Some cats just have bad temperaments, just like people. My sister used to have a cat that just loved my Dad but hated everyone else. Would swat at you, scratch you and snarl at you. Never did change.

Doubt it, my punkin has been nasty from day one, beating up her brothers almost immediately, she attacks me all the time. i have learned to live with it. I assumed she would grow out of being that way, but she is already over 5 years old. I love her to pieces and I realize that those scars will make me remember her for the rest of my life.

Trim his claws and give him attention so many people get a pet and then don't have anything to do with it. If you aren't going to give your cat love then give him to someone that will give him attention. Please don't get him declawed just trim them it works good. Do you all know what they do when they declaw a cat they have to remove the nail way inside that is very painful for the cat just check it out online. Its horrible.
