Well, as much as I like both of them, if you told me to chose between the two, let's say that I'd rather have a cat for a pet then a dog. I could list the reasons for you but you have probably already heard them before so I won't. To top it off I'll just say that right now I have two very content kittys in my lap who I love very much and wouldn't trade for any other pets in the world!

I like them both but some people like dogs more because the dog is more likely to be wild and play with the person more than a cat and the dog is more likely to go to the bathroom outside too. And I can see why people prefer cats to dogs because cats are calmer and you don't have to play too much with them they'd much rather lay down with you and let you pet and brush them. But that's what I think. It might not be too important though because I like all animals. I guess I'm an animal person

Cats... you can train cats just as you can train dogs... cats will sit with you for hours and hours.. dogs figit... dogs eat their own poop... dogs roll in other dogs poop..... dogs constantly sniff your crotch.. and all your friends crotches... dogs druel... dogs stink, especially when they get wet... you have to walk your dog.... when you go away, you can't leave your dog.
Cats can be left for 3 or 4 days if they have food and water and a litter box.... cats won't eat you out of house and home... cats don't constantly bug you for food when you're eating dinner... cats don't like to get wet.. so, you don't worry about them stinking (ok, except when they take a dump in the litter box.. I'll conceed that one).
I prefer cats.. overall, they're less work.. just as friendly and loving ... and much better lap pets than dogs.

Cats are better.
A dog just drools on the floor, craps in the yard, and chews up shoes. A cat is cleaner, smarter, and more affectionate.

It matters on what kind of cat or dog it is . For cats, i don't like cats with long claws or scary eyes. I hope they're not too big though , cause then who knows what could happen with them lying around.
I prefer cute, little furry dogs, i don't like big dogs, cause then if they get in control or get too crazy , you won't be able to control them and they could attack you or anybody else !

Dogs - I just hate the way cats rub and purr all over you...Its so freakishly gross to me lol. I like dogs, because they're energetic all the time, and I love when they give me dog kisses on my cheek lol

dogs are far more social than cats, and I've never had a dog scratch the bejezus out of my brother. so dogs are better, assuming it is not a small, annoying, constantly barking dog.
