An intake between 1200 and 1400 calories per day is considered a low intake.
Caloric intake BELOW 1200 should be avoided. It will lower your metabolism (so you actually start burning fat slower). Also, you most often will NOT be getting the nutrition you need, resulting in brittle bones, messed up periods, hair loss, and tooth decay.
Sexy huh?

Why are on 500 calories a day? you're 15 and I'm sure pier pressure is a factor in your life by now and weight issues come up, but if you can become independent of that pressure and look at it from the outside instead of being in the middle of it you'll do ok.
I would check with your doctor about how much calorie in take you should have, I willing to bet it's at least double if not more.
Good luck

It's extremely dangerous and you need to find a way to stop. Have your parents noticed this? If so, have they cautioned you about this? It sounds as if you are "dieting" and without the appropriate medical advice (which should preclude ANY diet) is dangerous. People have died over more than this! At your age, roughly 2000 calories a day is what your basic needs are. Your body has not stopped growing and if you force your body to stop growing via severe malnutrition, you could wind up with a number of problems. Anemia, scurvy, rickets, hair loss, tooth loss, loss of menstruation, constant fatigue, and even death. If you feel you are overweight and need a "diet", you need a medical evaluation FIRST. I urge you to do this. I almost lost my daughter in this way and after two months in the hospital and countless hours of couseling, we finally have our baby back. Please get help.

You need to take in more calories than that. The human body, on matter the age, cannot survive on 500 calories a day. You are causing damage to your muscles, your inner organs, your blood flow, and your brain. Your metabolism is also being affected. If you continue like this, you will be sedentary and extremely unhealthy. Your vision and other functions are also affected by this abuse to yourself.

are you a girl or a guy?
i think its too low because you are still growing
I'm 15 and i have about 2000 calories a day and I dont gain weight
you probably should eat more because 500 is not healthy and it may have long term and short term problems

500 calories is about 1/3 to 1/4th of what you should eat every day minimum, you need to eat more, or you could end up with serious complications from lack of energy and nutrition.

That's not only dangerous, but it speaks to grave negligence on your parents/ guardians, as well as teachers and guidance counselors for allowing you to eat like that.
You're only 15, you should be taking in at least twice that amount.

I'd think that anything less than 1200 calories is pretty dangerous.
