How do I get a boyfriend if I'm shy?

I'm a 21/year old gay guy. I'm very shy when I'm around new people, especially when there's someone I like. I know I get a lot of attention when I'm around other people because friends tell me that I'm cute. But I never have the courage to ask someone I like. First because I'm afraid to get rejected, second because I don't know what to say, and third because that guy I like might not be gay. How can I get the guy I want?

Hunny except for age and the fact that I'm a lesbian and not a guy, I know where you're coming from. I tried everything I could think of to try and get my ex's attention and I found that the best thing is to just ask. Start slow though, make small talk and work hints about sexuality into it. Once you get a positive that he "bats for the same team" if you will then relax and tell him. Sorry if that's not the answer you were looking for but I don't know what else to tell you.

Well, I'll give you the same advice I would give to someone who was not Gay or Lesbian -- Just relax, be patient and be yourself. You'll find someone that you like and/or people will approach you.

If your worried that the person you start speaking to is not Gay, you will have to start an innocuous conversation and gauge the other guy's reactions. Also, to better your chances of coming up with a match, try going to places and engaging in activities where there will be Gay people present. Go to a gay bar, or even a gay-oriented bookstore or coffee shop (Yes, I am in NYC, so we have them here). Join an organization or go to events (parties, charity events, etc..,) run by Gay organizations.

With a little luck, patience, and initiative, you'll meet someone. You can also try Gay personals, chat rooms, or websites as well. good luck.
