My husband fancies himself a real joker, but he teases people about stuff that no one would ever mention, just out of politeness. Even though I do think it is extremely funny, not everyone shares our funny bone. How can I get him to see that sometimes it hurts peoples feelings, even though I am crying from laughing so hard, and really want to scream" Lighten up for god's sake!" We both realy seem inappropriate, and I can keep my composure untill he starts. I am okay on my own, but he just blurts, what everyone is thinking anyway. Usually in a funny way, but some people don't think we are amusing. Help. I just can't controll it around him.

I tend to do the same thing. Make light of almost everything no matter how much in poor taste it might be. Fortunately, no one takes me serious when I say those kind of things and they know my "morbid" sense of humor anyway. Ahem. For example. Someone mentioned something about a brain tumor. I told then, well, if I had one, it would explain a lot of things. Then I found out, one of the people there were just scanned to see if they had one due to poor eye sight. Luckily, they laughed. But I realize, that not all folks find my way of thinking to be funny. Like there's a song "Brandy" ( what a good wife you would be ).....After broke back mountain came out. I couldn't help but figure why they don't change the name to RANDY and redo the song. Oh well.

I think you need to sit down and discuss with him the concept of the social contract and that there are certain things which are just inappropriate to joke about, regardless of how funny you both find the jokes.
You also need to be more disciplined and you need to keep yourself from laughing at him (at least in public), because that only encourages him to make these jokes at inappropriate times.
Tell him to save it until you're alone, then you can joke all you like.

You cannot get someone to see how bothersome a tease is when you're laughing along with him. You're just as guilty.
People today have very little, if any, regards to others' feelings.
I'm sure you two are very fun, caring people. But you need to reflect that by easing up on jokes and not use insults, even if you, yourself, think it's funny.

Ridiculing others is NOT funny. People who like to do this are really mean people. People who laugh at what they say are equally as mean. Only truly classless people would do this and eventhough people may chuckle, they will keep their distance so as not to become a future target of your mean-spiritedness. I hope you don't have children because I am certain they would be the school bully. Try making fun of something that your husband is sensitive about, I mean something which would absolutely mortify him, the next time you two are in public and see how he likes it.

humor is all well and good, but you never know if someone is having a bad day, or how they will take it . your laughing only eggs him on. the person being picked on might respond with physical violence possibly to the both of you. so use some common sense. how would you feel if the situation was reversed? something to think about.

Gee, you are just as bad as your husband. I think you both need to realize that you are both jerks! You laughing along with him makes you just as bad as him. I hope your friend tell the both of you to screw and leave you two alone. Why have two people messing up someones day because your cruel intentions masquerading as jokes are not funny and pleases no one but yourselves! You two should be alone-together-and not bother people. I hope these friends in your life realize you are as pathetic as he is and stay away from you two ASAP!

Well slap me around and call me Suzy.....it seems like you encourage him by laughing with him......You should put on a stern face and tell him in code that he needs to stop......if that doesnt work then just get up and walk away.....that will surley get his attention.

well, i think that you should confront him about it and say what he's doing seems really rude. Honestly, he might not even notice what he's doing. Just sit and talk to him
