My friend left hers in an apartment laundry in Albuquerque and went back to find "circles" cut out of the center of all of her bras...........lol....
(that taught HER to not leave her clothes............)
When you go to the laundry --- make a habit of chewing gum.......then when YOU have to remove their clothes... stick the gum on something and smash it down........perferably something that looks like it's in good condition......... maybe then, the jerk will quit walking away from his/her stuff.........
I'm usually not this mean............but hey....it's not like I told you to put "poop" in there and smash..........
.......or you could move to Texas and live with me --- I have my own washer and dryer...........and hell, I'd do your laundry for you!

It's absolutley okay to remove someone's laundry out of the dryer. It's not okay for someone to leave their stuff in a shared laundry room machine. People are busy and don't have time to wait in a laundry room. As a courtesy, I usually wait about 5 minutes or so. At that point I ask aloud if anyone knows who is using the machine. Depending on the answer, I usually wind up removing the clothes from the machine and placing the pile in a reasonable location nearby. I have never had a problem with someone whose clothes I had to move and I have never seen anyone complain about someone moving their stuff.

No, it is not wrong. Other people have to use the washers and dryers also. People should have respect for others and keep an eye on their laundry so that they can take it out promptly after it is done. If they don't and their clothes has sat in there for a while, take it out and place it neatly to the side. But ,just a warning, if you do that, be ready for retaliation.

When u share washer and dryer u have to be courteous to other people, If u leave your stuff in w or d for a long time someone else had the right to remove it. But u also have to be nice about it to. If he got upset about it too bad. he would not like it if the tables were turned. He would have done exactly as u did.

Anyone who leaves there clothes in a washer or dryer for more than 1/2 is inconsiderate. As long as there is a place to put the clothes I think it is OK to take them out . However, that type of person will get mad anyway. I would talk to the super about getting a sign put up....

Only if you take the time to fold it and stack it neatly on the counter for them.
Afterall, things happen. We all have lives and are all busy. Wouldn't you want someone else to give you the benefit of the doubt just once?
Some other aspects to consider: You may make him feel embarassed for not being a good neighbor because you were a good neighbor and folded his laundry for him. OR you may totally skeeve him out because you folded his stuff and he may make sure not to leave it sit in the future. Either way, you come off as the good guy.

I was in this same situation. I took someone's clothes out of the dryer and very nicely laid them out. When I came back to check on my clothes, the person had left a really nasty note. A tip for anyone using a community laundry room- find out how long a cycle takes and set a timer!

It is acceptable to remove laundry from a dryer in a public facility if, and only if:
1. It is the only available dryer,
2. The clothes inside it are completely dry,
3. The owner has neglected to remove them, and
4. You are in need of a dryer.
It is also acceptable to remove wet clothing if the owner has neglected them for an extended period of time.

He was very inconsiderate to leave the dryer unattended. You had no idea when he was coming back. Have the apartment manager post a sign saying, "All unattended clothes will be removed from a washer or dryer when cycle is finished and placed on a table. If you don't want someone touching your clothes, please stay here."

It's appalls me how many people do not consider others in community areas.....you were definitely in the right, as long as you take care not to set their clothes on dirty surfaces and you waited....if this continues to be a problem contact the manager about posting a sign....How did you handle the other tenants anger? Like, Dude, I'm beg your pardon but I noticed your clothes were done so I moved them to the table so I could use the machines, hope you didn't mind.

Most apartment complexes have rules regarding the use of the laundry machines: times when they can and cannot be used, what cannot be washed in them (work clothes), and rules for normal etiquette. You can ask management for the specific rules and ask if you can type them up and post them in the laundry area if they are not already posted. If this does not work, try leaving the rules at everyone's door in that complex. Good luck!
