My first husband did that, and it didn't matter one little bit if nobody laughed, because he convinced himself that they either just didn't get it or that they were laughing on the inside.
It was a little embarrassing to me, his telling these awful "jokes," but in the overall scope of things, it just doesn't matter very much. Telling him how awful they are, or how embarrassing, would do absolutely nothing but make him feel bad, and what's the point of that? Is he really doing anything harmful? No. He would only see it as you attacking him, and no reacts well to that.
It's just a trait of his, like baldness or a lisp or something. It's part of who he is, so don't mess with it. If you love him, get over it. Or find something to occupy yourself with elsewhere when you see one of his jokes coming on - its less embarrassing that way. But don't attack him for it, it won't strengthen the bond between you.
And keep in mind - you might not be aware of what it is, but you can bet good money that there is something about you that he feels the same way about. And he may never tell you. So don't go down that road, it's a lot more destructive than you think.

Lemme guess.... he JUST STARTED telling unfunny jokes? He was probably tellin bad jokes long before you married him.... you knew what you were getting.
Buy him a joke book with 101 pickle jokes or whatever kind of jokes you like best... maybe he'll tell you a new one that you can laugh at.
Does he work everyday.... does he take care of his family.... does he participate in the family stuff... is he spending the money at the track or the bar?
Why are so many people quick to advocate that a man "needs to change"? Why has no one suggested the woman change her attitude? Apparently there was no problem with her marrying him.
In the meantime... well.... you married him...

You might find a consideration of the following to be helpful:

There are other causes of age-inappropriate behavior, but I've yet to find better descriptions of the secondary behaviors, from whatever the cause has been.

What's the problem with him telling jokes whether they are funny or not? Who cares? When no one laughs, maybe he'll get the hint. If not, maybe he's having FUN telling stupid jokes. What's wrong with that?

OOOOOOoh you are so cruel. He loves to make people laugh. Let him make a fool of himself for once and as a good wife you should pretend laugh at his jokes so he thinks he is the man. Then when you alone you can tell him his jokes aren't so good but he looks good telling them.

If thats the only problem you have or the worst problem you have with him then just be thankful. Many husbands and wives are struggeling to stay together...........well if it means alot to you then i would just tell him they arent funny, and that jokes are supposed to be funny. Sounds like my grandpa.

Everyone has their own type of sense of humor. If his jokes are that bad (or he repeats the same ones often), you might want to comment to him on this. I'd go easy on him, though - it's not serious enough to get into arguments over.

my grandfather used to do that all the time and he would laugh and no one else would. He has been gone many years now and I would give a lot just to hear him tell a joke and laugh again.

I have the same problem. I just tell him. He sulked for a few days. Hopefully he won't do it anymore.
