well i dont know how bad your depressions are and how long you got them now, but you should have a therapy and sometimes you have to get at least some kind of medication to get a therapy started. but i understand that you dont like the medication!i wouldnt like it either...well to give you some kind of advice, if you are depressed its important for you to have goals in your life! the worst would be if you dont have anything you work for....just make yourself any kind of goals oyu want to reach (doesnt ahve to be huge goals, start with something small), get yourself a hobby to keep you busy. dont know like a sport maybe or some craft stuff...i dont know how old you are so i dont know what kind of goals you could take yourself....but this is something really important...i would talk about the medication stuff to you doctor and tell him you wanna make a therapy and tell him your not into those medication stuff, he knows you better than i do, so i cant tell you if it would be ok for you to just stop it. i know people who would have killed themselves if they wouldnt have been on medication, so medication is not always bad, sometimes when you get depressed or depressions get too bad, you just need them...

Manic Depression also known as Bipolar disorder is a very serious psychiatric illness. There are still a few (and I do mean few) orthomolecular psychiatrists who treat Bipolar disorder and Schizophrenia with large doses of vitamins.
Dr. Abram Hoffer (I believe) began this type of therapy in the '70s. He was quite successful but of course not very popular with the pharmaceutical companies.
Please DO NOT attempt to self medicate with vitamins. You need to have a specially trained psychiatrist to monitor your progress.
I am sorry but I don't have any specific links to any orthomolecular psychiatrists, but you can do an Internet search. Good Luck.

I laid in bed for 4 years and never wanted to take medication. Nothing got better. I started seeing a psych no medication Nothing got better. I finally gave up last month and gave in to try something to help myself, i was prescibed a medication. Nothing has gotten worse. My point is everybody is different, maybe you don't need meds but you do need to speak to someone, let them know straight away your resistance to meds. See if the therapy alone helps. Only you will really know in time what is right for you

Depends on how bad......
If you have a dr. that says you need to then you could always get a second opinion and talk to them about other treatments.
Diet ,excercise, NO alcohol and drug abuse can all help but sometimes pwoplw do need meds.
( i have seen people treated for depression whoi are alcoholic , drug users etc. so dont use ....if you do)

shrinks can help, but ther are also other things, like breathing exercises, knowing what triggers you, or even accupuncture or other types of homeopathinc help. it realy depends on what your comfortable, but if you need to take your medication, it dosn't make you weak and your not alone, be strong, and you will get better , and you WILL live a "normal" life what ever normal may be *NARF* i mean cough :P

I don't think there is any alternative to medication in bipolar disorder...you could try seeing doctors of alternative medicine, herbalists, and therapists.

No take your medication. Diabetics need insulin. You need your medication to have a normal life. Do it now.

Take your medicine. A brisk walk once a day might help a bit too, but don't rely soley on it.
