I am a mother of 5 children(4boys and 1 girl). Even though it is an innocent act from newborn to about 4 months old--You have to be careful because of the world we live in, it leaves to many open doors for misunderstanding--if your child can identify body parts then your bath time has expired with that child. Just explain he is big boy now and he can bathe himself--give a new bath toy to break the ice

I would not take the age into factor in this situation. Because every baby develops differently. However as soon as the child is able to sit up on his own without sliding into the water. then chance are he/she is ready to bath alone. Some people may do it when the child is young to save time. And for those folks I would say, the moment he starts to notice the mommy parts, he/she need not be in the shower with the parent anymore.

I would say around 5-8 years old because they are getting older and might want a little bite of privacy. But if he or she needs help then help or if they are not ready then let them take a bath and just wait until they are done.
