well, u can take a break from all of the stress in your muscles. U probably pulled a muscle as it is because of all of the pressure points that might be causing the hurting, seeing that oyu lift a lot of heavy things. Getting acupunture might help....but if u can't afford i would just massage my neck with some "tiger balm" everyday..3 times a day.morning, afternoon, and night! You can go to a drugstore or a regular store and ask for it. It always helps me. When you put the tiger balm on i would use a paper towel or latex or rubber gloves. That way it doesn't stain or burn your hands. don't worry. It won't cause more pain or stain clothes. But make sure it airs out after applying. It's only about $10.00 or less depending how big and what store. Good luck!

perhaps try tilting your head to the sides and forwards often. it may seem painful initially, but it's actually somewhat relaxing, and helps soothe the total pain. don't move the head too much if it's too painful; take it in steps. like the first day (or hour, etc, it doesn't have to be constant) you can do a little bit, while the next day (see above) maybe do more. this may result in better flexibility. the more flexible your neck is over time, the better it is for your undue burden from work. also, try to go around with your neck upright; not only does it help this problem, but it also makes you look better. the hero strikes again!

I sit a lot and something that has really helped me is mix half water and half vinegar together then warm it up. After it is warm put cloth in it and get it full of the mixture and put it on your neck with some plastic over it then a dry towel over that. Let it sit there, or go to sleep with it on. It's amazing how much better your neck will feel:)

I have fibermiga, the most pain I feel is in my neck. I alternate between hot and cold pack, also I do neck stretches before I doing anything that could be hard on my neck. They also suggested swimming, because the water therapy will help relax those muscles in the neck, which if tence will cause pain.

I have had great luck with relieving pain in my neck and back my using these small balls. They are sold as "the miracle ball method" set. They help to relax your muscles and release tension. I found them through amazon.com and they were only about $19. I first used them to relieve pain in my lower back while I was pregnant, but I have continued to use them since. My little one enjoys rolling them around the floor, so I guess I;m really getting my money's worth!

Learn a more proper way to lift things. Use your legs more. Keep your body in better alinment and breath properly, while lifting, exhale.
