Nobody has answered my question....RI is the ONLY state that is excluded from all MLB contests and the only explaination is that they don't have a team??? That's weak...hopefully someone knows the answer.....

I still don't think anybody is getting this.....I'm NOT asking why RI doesn't have a team...we don't need one. I'm asking why RI is EXCLUDED from contests on MLB.com (first pitch contests, all star game ticket contests)

Well they are many factors...one it's a small state, a small area usually equals less fans, thus causing a dettraction from MLB executives, plus are many people in the RI baseball fans? I've heard that alot of RI residents are football fans, so it might cause some competition concerns of the MLB, and also they might also have to compete against the Red Sox since they'd play like 4 hrs. away from RI. I live in the area where they are alot of Astros fans so I'm not familiar with RI but I've researched a little bit of that factor of not having a MLB team. Plus Utah ahs an NBA team, but it's because Utah is predominantly mormon and the only sports that Mormons are allowed to play is basketball.

It has never been offered a team because of the lack of population in the state. There isn't enough people to support a major league baseball team.

With salaries skyrocketing, most baseball teams need attendance of at least 2 million a year just to break even. I think the population of the state is less than 2 million.

Rhode Island has a AAA baseball team called the Pawtuctet Red Sox. They are the farm team of the Boston Red Sox.
There have been Pro teams in Providence, RI before look here.
This was long ago.

It might have something to do with "gambling" laws. Some contests fall under that kind of category. Rhode Island might have laws against online gaming, like Fantasy sports and such.

You would probably have to look through RI laws...not sure if my answer helped, but that is just a thought.

Rhode Isalnd is not elligable to participate in any MLB contests because RI laws prohibit any contests of that type in the state.

purple Sox. It takes like half-hour to force from west to east of RI and then plus an hour or 2 to get to Boston (relies upon on site visitors) potential they're going to maximum probable root for the Sox. Plus the Sox are the team on television up there.

It may have to do with state laws against "gambling". Some states are stricter regarding what they consider a sweepstakes or contest.
