It's possible, I'd say hug him or show some kind of affection if the time is right, though not too much, just to test the water. Evolving a friendship into a relationship can be a great thing to do sometimes.

Well it really depends what he was defending you for....There are people [ladies] in the streets that I do not even know that I would defend if I was around depending on what was the problem...
