O and It's not a fresh bite. It showed up about 2 days ago and gradually got worse.

Chop it off in front of the Infection!!!!
Go to the Doctor, it probably a Brown Recluse they bad about hiding in shoes and waiting on an unsuspecting toe.
Doctor can give you some stuff to help, it will get nasty if it a Recluse, but, may be OK when you go to France. BUT, the sooner you go to the Hospital/Doctor the sooner they do something.

I had a chortle imagining you chasing this spider about, to be honest, i'd be afraid of the ferret! positioned some conckers in the corners of the room, the little fellow will quickly go away.

You need to see a doctor NOW! This could be a black widow bite and it will not get better on its' own. GO NOW!

you need to go to the doctors asap. if it hurts that bad and the redness is spreading then you probably have a serious infection and its spreading.

You have a severe allergy to spiders. I would head to an emergency room.
