The only people who think that Albany stinks are the people who have never lived there or even spent much time there. If they had, they'd know that the mill that they speak of is in MILLERSBURG. ;)

Corvallis is bigger and has more to do, but it is more expensive to live in than Albany and is only a short drive anyway. Albany has less to do, but still has enough and it within close reach to everything.

Corvallis and Albany are both nice towns to live in, and they both have their share of problems. A good way to get a good idea of these towns is to read the local newspapers.

I would stay away from Albany, Small little town that has alot of drug usage and a paper mill that reeks! Corvallis is a nice little town, College town, not much to do their though unless your a student and like to party. Can I ask why these two choices? Eugene is a fun town, you can say a hippy town, larger than Albany or Corvallis and more to do. I would look into Salem or Portland as well. I have lived in Oregon my whole life and have been everywhere. Salem is about the same size as Eugene and cost of living are a bit lower. But the job market kinda stinks right now. Portland is the city, very large and more expensive. But tons to do and the job market is better. Good luck it's a great place to live, your about an hour away from the ocean and a little more to the mountains. Lots to do outdoors!

Both are nice. As other folks have mentioned, Albany stinks because of the paper mill.

Corvallis is a university town. Lots to do, but I think the price of housing has gone way up in the last few years (like everywhere else on the west coast).

Corvallis is a college town so the prices are a little higher...especially rent. Lots of nice restaurants and two movie theatres and a bowling alley. A few clubs. However, after living there for 9 months, my friends and I didn't find it all that exciting since we were always aching for something to do.

I can't say much about Albany since all I ever did was pass through it.

It's been a long time since I've been to either, both are great little towns but I prefer Corvallis just because an old friend still lives there, Oregon is a great place to live if you can find work.

Both Corvallis and Albany are a bit politically conservative. If you aren't then you should think about Eugene. If you are conservative, I'd choose Corvallis over Albany just for natural beauty.
