hello,i was wondering if any of you knew the meaning and origin of the last name Lawson?

Generally names ending with "son" came from Sweden, or were made up. Made up because as people came to America the names were changed or misspelled by the English speaking people working for Immigration. Good luck, if you are less than 3rd generation American, it shouldn't be hard to find out, but more, and you may be screwed.

It is a patronymic (from the father's name) meaning son of Law. Law is a diminutive of Lawrence, so, it could translate as something like "son of Larry."
