Jesus The Christ was not a gnostic He is the Son of God. But here let me give you two quotes from the gospel of thomas (a gnostic gospel)and see if thats really what you want to get into.
(22) Jesus saw infants being suckled. He said to his disciples, "These infants being suckled are like those who enter the kingdom."
They said to him, "Shall we then, as children, enter the kingdom?"
Jesus said to them, "When you make the two one, and when you make the inside like the outside and the outside like the inside, and the above like the below, and when you make the male and the female one and the same, so that the male not be male nor the female female; and when you fashion eyes in the place of an eye, and a hand in place of a hand, and a foot in place of a foot, and a likeness in place of a likeness; then will you enter the kingdom."
(114) Simon Peter said to them, "Make Mary leave us, for females don't deserve life." Jesus said, "Look, I will guide her to make her male, so that she too may become a living spirit resembling you males. For every female who makes herself male will enter the kingdom of Heaven."

yes - they are the study/Books of kabbalah. you will discover the natural blend of "science" (mankind's understanding) and religion. you are right on track for foundation, which is a great place to start. now put all the pieces together, which is made easier by throwing out people's spin on God. Read the Books themselves and they will tell you everything. Knock and the door shall be opened, seek and you shall find.
Good transition books are The Book of Enoch, and truly, the Dead Sea Scrolls, but you really have to read them and look deep and know the community they came from - the Essenes - and recognize and respect what they were about. they gave their Lives to deliver that Book.
Good hunting in your Search!

Jesus is the only way to God..No one will enter to God's Kingdom without Jesus..Jesus came to the earth to free us from religions, and teach us to have a personal relationship with God. His sacrificial gift of life is offered to you too....You can take it or leave it. It is like a free fire insurance, you just need to take it before you die.
