I've never been a religious person, I just find the idea of God and Heaven and Hell too difficult to believe and all quite silly really. But I've started to notice lately that the things I do in my life may be some kind of subconscious way of replacing religion. For example I always read the astrology column in the newspaper each day, and then I base my actions on what it says. I also study science and enjoy finding answers to things I've always wondered. Do you think it's possible that all humans need faith, guidance and answers, and that we all just have different ways of finding it?

The human mind, to me, seems very susceptible to the pull of religion. We are naturally very curious, and want answers to everything in life, think of a toddler and how they may always ask "why" to the point of being obnoxious. When answers don't immediately come, sometimes falsehoods are paraded as truths, and others are pulled in by the alluring message of answers for everything (or at least most of what is not understood) this is how religions can get a hold so easily and not let go until all of the questions formerly misunderstood are answered.

Simply answer is Yes. Having faith in something gives a purpose to life that keeps us going and brings us to a positive attitude and a way to say my life is not meaningless.
When is comes to faith and religion, the only way for you to understand God is to ask him for his guidance and he will bless you. Through baptism you will become a forgiven child of God and are given the holy spirit. Through this the grace of God will save you from many but not all turmoils of this earth and you will inherit the kingdom. But no one but yourself can make the call on whether you want to come to faith. If you think it is silly then that is your opinion. However, I challenge you to read up on worldly religions. Make an educated decision on what you believe, don't just think it is silly and walk away, fight for the true knowledge.

I think life's guidance is based on what we find to be right and wrong, morally, spiritually and physically. Whether or not you are religious, we have choices in this life, given to us by "God" if you are into religion, or just given to us by "life" in general.
We have a choice every day to consciously create your day. When you wake up in the morning, whether you are guided by God, or the sun or the astrology column, you have to be guided in some way.
You are guiding yourself and learning on your own. You create your own voids. A void is only a void if you feel it is. God or no God.

The human brain is much like a thermostat. It "thinks" as a means of regulating bodily functions. Humans pursue activities that allow the brain to "think" so it can properly regulate bodily functions.
Thinking has no relevance or importance except to keep the body functioning or "alive."
You aren't literally substituting one for the other, you are merely acting on your biological urges to give the brain something to "think" about so it can regulate the body.
Otherwise, you would be in a coma or asleep.

YOU are not trying to Replace anything but what belong's in your HEART, the CREATOR, HE was in YOU befor you came to EARTH to be Born, then HE had to leave after that. So sad, but that is what is happening, you really want to LOVE GOD back,(you miss HIM way deep inside of YOU, you just don't know it yet.

There is NO doubt, we have different ways to find guidance. It just depends on WHO you want to be the Pilot.

Not everyone.
Humans don't need anything but food, water, & air, and sometimes we crave external validation.
