They originally named it the Orange because all the other good fruit names were already taken. So I guess it would have to be ”The fruit formally known as Orange”

Actually, the color orange is named after the oange fruit. Before the orange fruit was introduced to Europe, the color orange was called geoluhread (which means yellow-red).

the name orange is just a temporary name that was taken and they are waiting for the permanent one to be invented.

I propose the word CITROID . We cannot use Citroen because that is a real "lemon" ( ha ha)

I wish the orange would be a deep pink and I'd call it a magenta! Of course, it might be fun if it were a paisley.. or psychodellic!
