I want to get plantation shutters for my windows. Does anyone know if the vinyl ones are as good as wood?

Vinyl is much better to clean than wood and will hold up to wood longer with out the dust accumulating

If you choose vinyl try to get it as a two piece system,,,meaning that it isnt just a molded single piece, but has a back to it.

Vinyl is great in that it needs less maintenance, but it also warps in the heat. Even when screwed in at all 4 corners.

I'd spend the extra dollars, get quality shutters, treat or paint them with a quality exterior paint, and enjoy them for a longer period of time.

The vinyl ones are as they sound. VINYL. A man made product that is not made to withstand time.. Wood on the other hand is.
Look at trees. Spend the extra money have a better product and rememer always that a few extra bucks spent saves you money in the long run. Call my store if we can help 802-297-3911

The vinyl ones can't be painted, so they stay the same color forever where wood ones can be painted. But you are going to have to re-paint the wood ones every couple of years to keep them looking nice and to keep them moisture and bug proof. The wood one are more durable to weather conditions like hail and heat. The vinyl ones are probably going to be cheaper than wood ones. So basically it's a toss-up. Pick the ones you like based on how they look and how much time you want to put into maintaining them.

Vinyl will last longer. Anything wood will rot over time unless you keep it painted and maintained.

Plus there have been significant advances in vinyl technology where you can get them to look like their wood counterparts...
