When working with dying people in Palliative Care I respect what ever the patient wishes to believe. I have prayed with some and listened to hard rock music with others. The hardest is when a young child dies, and they want children's music playing and you know that they will never see adulthood. That is really sad :-(
Many people believe that your soul goes to heaven and others believe in life-death-life and reincarnation.
I treat the person's body as though they were still alive when preparing them for the undertaker, I still show respect, just because a person is dead does not mean they are less of a person. A patient in a coma still has needs to be cared for.

Contrary to what someone else answered, the soul is not a man-made idea. The soul is referred to in the new and old testament of the bible. The soul belongs to go.
No man can explain what the soul actually is. People say the soul lives on forever. God says the soul and spirit are two separate entities. Does the soul have a physial form, no person can answer that question. I believe it does, however it is not visible to the human eye.
The reference to the form that a soul takes in the bible is just that... a soul. The soul belongs to God and can be taken only by God and dies in hell.

Thank you Whiteshadow.
Good to see a touch of reality and good sense in our 'answering service'.
I'm glad you asked this Great question.
Yes; there will be a period for most people after death, wherein only their spirits go on, because the worms and microbes destroy this physical body as the prophet Isaiah said.
He also said, "Yet in my flesh shall I see God"
The New Testament teaches that all will be resurrected to a new immortal body and most will be glorified in God, according to their respective levels of obedience and faith.
It says, in fact: "For as in Adam all men die; even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
So, eventually, ALL will be resurrected to an Immortal body [that is, when God has finished his work].
Jesus opened the door to overcome death.
He was the "firstfruits" of the resurrection.
You will be able to see and feel and touch better and more perfectly than you ever have before!
Those who are truly righteous in God and repent of all their sins - even after this life as spirits before the resurrection, will be blessed to live as husband and wife and family together forever, and will continue to have children well beyond even the entire history and genealogy of Man!!!!!!!
In fact, their increase will be never-ending!!
In this way, they will, indeed, have "Eternal Life" with God, the Father

At the death of the physical incarnation the soul will be freed of it's physical constraints and you will know a freedom unlike any you have ever experienced. The body will cease to be of any importance to the soul.

The "soul" is the invention of the brain. When the brain "dies," so does the soul.
It has no aspects after "death" because it ceases to exist.

After death your existence ends. Your future is as worm food.

According to the Bible, after Christ returns, his people's spirits will be given a new, glorified body free of imperfection.

No, after death your soul is nonexistent, just like it was before you died.
