I 'think' that catholics have the same God the Father as Christians. But there are some differences. Catholics deify Mary which is idolatry. They believe the church and or the priest can forgive sin which is blasphemy. Up until just a few short years ago they discouraged Bible reading by parishioners-unthinkable. Most of their belief are about Catholicism and not Christianity. By most conservative christian apologist the catholic church is considered a pseudo-Christian cult. That is not good. There are many good people in the catholic church, but I believe there is some serious need for the leadership to rethink what the role of their church is in the world. They sure have probably the worst reputation of all religions on earth, excepting only Islam. I'm not saying that to be mean or ugly-someone needs to wake up and look around.

Short answer: Yes - they 100% do.
Historically, if you were born prior to 1500, and believed in Christ, and lived East and/or North of Greece - then YOU WERE A CATHOLIC.
(For more on this, read the link below ... )
Everyone was a Catholic before Luther - people had different beliefs, but everyone was a Catholic. The differences now (though still being relatively "new") are made by man, not by God.
The primary difference between Catholics and Protestants (Epicapaleans, Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists) is the office of The Pope. Catholics believe that The Pope, when "speaking from the Papal See", extends christian doctrine and speaks with infallibility. Reasonable protestants prefer to shy away from infallibility.
There is a lot of wacko anti-catholic protestant literature out there that says The Pope is really the anti-Christ ("see! look for the 666") and other such nonsense. For example (from above) Catholics do not worship Mary. They believe in interseccory prayer: so, if you're gonna pray to someone to intercede for you, who better than Jesus' Mom? The reason Catholics believe Mary was "free from sin" is actually quite beautiful - but that's another paragraph. In this age of material secularism, all peoples who accept Jesus as the Son of God should join hands, think of each other as family, and reserve our fighting for the forces of darkness ... (which brings us to Islam ... ).

Absolutely! Catholics do not worship the Pope as God, He is the leader of their church. The Catholics are doing away more and more with praying to the different saints of old, now they are leaning more to reading the Bible and understanding what the Word of God really is, before most Catholics were not encouraged to read the Bible, saying the rosary and praying to the saints was more about what their religion taught, however thanks to the last Pope who realized the importance of having a true relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and so now the statues that once graced their sanctuaries have been removed, so that a greater focus on the Lord Jesus could be taught. I think this is very timely as we are in difficult times, spiritually, and all need to increase their relationship with the Lord. Most all religions are great as long as they stay fixed on the teachings of the Bible. To answer your question of what makes one religion right and all others wrong, well for Christians it is what I stated about the teachings of the Bible, and others that are wrong, I do not know, I do know that God has a marvelous way of reaching all of His Children, because once I was lost, and now I am found. God Bless You.

Well, to answer the question in bold first, Catholics ARE Christians, so yes, they all worship the same God.
Some people say, and can make a case for, Jews, Christians, and Muslims worshiping the same God. They say this: They all draw from the old testament as a base, and all have the same idea of monotheism, but Christians and Muslims think that their messiah has come, while the Jews are still waiting for the arrival of a messiah. Christians look to the Bible because it's the book of their messiah, and Muslims to the Quran because it's the book of theirs, but the idea of their God for all of them comes from the Jewish faith. People of these faiths often say this is not true, because they tend not to like one another, but historically it does make sense.
As for other religions, they definitely do not serve the same God. Some have many gods, Buddhists, Hindus, pagans, all have sets of their own Gods they believe in, and there are hundreds of religions around the world practiced by natives peoples of various lands who have their own god or gods.
What makes one religion "right" while the others are "wrong"? Just opinion, I think. Some people think they are right, and others are wrong. The ones they think are wrong disagree. There is no real way to tell who is correct.

Umm... Catholicism is a sect of Christianity, as is Anglicanism, Orthodoxy, Lutheranism, Coptic, etc.
Several nominally Protestant sects are not considered Christian by the "mainstream" denominations. Examples are those that view modern extrascriptural sources as inspired texts (ex: LDS and The Book of Mormon, SDA and Ellen G White's writings, Christian Scientists and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures").
The question is poorly phrased.
Not all religions serve the same god. Orthodox Buddhism, for example, is devoid of deities, and most Buddhist denominations have several. Hinduism is polytheist. Judaism is technically henotheist (old school Judaism knew that other gods existed but were obligated to only worship YHWH; see also decalogue prohibitions).

Uh, Catholics ARE Christians...in fact, they were the ORIGINAL and ONLY Christian sect for many hundreds of years once Christianity became clarified into a single religion. Protestantism arose from Catholicism--a Protestant is one who "protested" many of the Catholic church's teachings and laws and recommended a complete separation from the Catholic church. Both Catholics and Protestants claim to worship the same god, since Christianity--along with Islam and Judaism--is one of the three "Abrahamic" religions...that is, they all claim connection to, or descent from, the patriarch Abraham and his god, Yahweh.
Ancientsqfan, please read the link below about Catholicism. There are MANY denominations claiming the title of "Catholic" (which simply means "universal")...not as many as the Protestants, it's true, but that still means they are divided and not in complete agreement over how to worship God.

All Christians serve the same God. Catholics form one group of those Christians.
99% of the important stuff is completely agreed upon.
Some over zealous Catholics and non-Catholic Christians sometimes act in an unchristian manner and blow the 1% of not so important stuff that we disagree about out of proportion.
If fact, Christians, Jews, and Muslims all worship the same God, the God of Abraham.
With love in Christ.

Yes I believe that all the Christians churches serve the same g-d. I don't know who came up with this notion that one Christian Religion is better than another. Because if you look at on a grand scale all Christian faith believe in the same bible just that they have different ways of looking at and teaching it. I wish the Christian faith would wise up and realize that they are preaching the same thing and forget that one Christian faith is better than another. That's why people like you and me are turning away from the Christian faith all this infighting and boasting that one church is better than another making it confusing to really want to go to chruch and learn about the bible.

i think ALL religions serve a higher being what ever they choose to call "it".
i have been involved (for various reasons) with Christian, methodist, baptist, presbetirian, unitatian and jewish. i have a brother that is a baptist minister and another brother that is in the hiarchy of the episcapalian faith.
it has always bothered me that, with few exceptions, the "we are right and they are wrong" mentallity. i must say that the unitarians are truely open and except any and all as you are and do not try to change you in any way. i must also say that in feeling the most welcome within a curch or congregation, even not being of the faith, i was most comfortable with the jewish.
bottom line, who's right, who's wrong? same god? good luck getting an answer to that one.
it seems to be what you believe, not what someone tells you to believe.

No, catholics are idol worshippers. They worship Mary and pray to saints, things that God looks down on. In Exodus 20:4 it says
You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
